USA sets new FIFA Women's World Cup record
With their win against England in the semifinals of the France World Cup, the Stars and Stripes have become the team with the most consecutive victories.
Jill Ellis' squad reached the World Cup Final for the third consecutive time, proving its dominance of the tournament once again, but this France World Cup has also seen the US team break numerous records and the game against England was no exception.
Since the beginning of the tournament, the US women's national team has been breaking records all over the place, from setting the biggest winning margin in World Cup history with a 13-0 win over Thailand, to scoring the the fastest goal in Women's World Cup and Alex Morgan breaking a scoring record to finish the group phase perfectly.
And the semifinal match against England handed the USWNT a new record to add to its tally at the current World Cup; victory against England now means that no nation has ever won more consecutive games in FIFA Women's World Cup history.
New US record
The USWNT overtook the previous record for the most consecutive wins, which was held by Normway with 10. Now with 11 under their belts, the US will look to make it 12 when they face Sweden or Netherlands in the final as they seek to defend their 2015 crown.
