David De Gea will continue defending the Manchester United goal for another six seasons. The Spanish keeper is set to renew his contract and sign a new deal, committing until 2025.

De Gea to become world's best-paid goalkeeper

De Gea has been thinking long and hard about the decision and was considering a future elsewhere last season after the team finished sixth in the Premier League. Two factors convinced him to stay - the support he has received from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the chance to become the second highest earner in the United dressing room after Alexis Sánchez.

The 28-year-old will sign a contract for the a total of 130 million euros - that means he will be earning 21 million per season - more than any other goalkeeper in the world. De Gea will sign his new contract once the team returns from their pre-season tour.
