A first half strike by Vinicius as he broke into tears was followed by a Rodrygo goal on his debut as the two Brazilian teenagers nab all three points for Madrid ahead of the Madrid derby on Saturday.

Corner whipped in and it's Jovic who heads it down for Rodrygo, who nearly turns it home at the back post.

Avila races in behind and Militao steps in, showing off a serious set of wheels, to win it back.

Real Madrid just trying to keep ball and conserve energy now.

Nacho races down the left but falls over himself and gives away a throw.

Rodrygo is on the field for a few seconds and he goes around the defender and slots home! Lovely finish. What a debut.

Zidane makes his first move as Vinicius comes off for his compatriot Rodrygo.

Nacho blocks a cross for a corner. Chimy Avila making Osasuna more dynamic already.

Vinicius with a nice little run and he pops it inside to Valverde. His strike is well wide but not a bad effort. Well worked for Madrid, who are pushing for that second.

Kroos lines up a strike. He gets it away and forces a good save from Martinez. He palms it out for a corner.

Double sub for Osasuna as Chimy Avila and juan Villar come on for Brandon Thomas and Cardona.

Corner for Osasuna as Areola grabs it. Impressive reach but he goes down with cramp now it looks like. Not the most taxing of nights for him.

Nacho with a foul on Moncayola as he pulls him down on the counter. That came after Madrid looked for a free earlier and didn't get it. Kroos, it was, who fell over but it wasn't a foul. 

Casemiro recovers as Cardona tries to get a yard to shoot in the penalty area. Good, strong defending from the Brazilian.

Casemiro down in the penalty area after he puts it out for a corner. Nothing much in it but he wins the free.

Kroos sends a ball into the box and Martinez grabs it. Time seemed to stand still for a second there. Ramos skipped by again as he comes out of defence. 

Fran Meria rifles one wide. He admits to his teammates that he probably should have played it to one of them but gave Madrid a bit of a fright.

Real Madrid attack and Vazquez plays into Jovic after the Osasuna defenders seem to disappear into thin air. He has a chance to make it 2-0 but he sends it over the bar.

Cross into the box and Cardona gets a head to it. But it's wide. Ramos there to put him off.

Brandon races Militao in chase of the ball. They both look to get there just in time but Brandon clips Militao and the referee gives a free to the Real Madrid defender. Not a bad start to the second half for Osasuna.

We are back underway for the second half. No changes for either side.

That's half-time. A nice finish from Vinicius separates the sides. 

Vinicius with the ball inside after skipping by a challenge. He plays it to Jovic but he can't get a shot on target.

Valverde thinks about a break but he turns back. Madrid fans want them to move forward faster,

Dangerous attack from Osasuna but the pass into Cardona is too heavy, by just a touch, and it's into Areola's arms.

Smart defending by Osasuna to reject Vazquez first and the Odriozola as he runs it into the keeper's arms.

Just north of 57,000 in the Bernabéu watching the game.

This is a very tame affair so far. Real Madrid just edging possession but chances have been few and far between. Osasuna continue to look dangerous and purposeful in attack but nothing doing for either side yet.

Danger again from the right as Osasuna manage to scramble it away.

Better from Madrid in the last couple of minutes. 

Kroos nearly opens the scoring. He takes the ball in the middle and absolutely rifles one just wide of the post. That looked like it was heading for the top corner.

Jovic! How does he miss. Crossed in by Odriozola and Navas hits it off his own keeper. It bounces back to Jovic and he sends it over the bar as he's falling backwards. 

Uh-oh! Nacho's down. He grabs his knee but it just looked like a clumsy one rather than anything else. Free for Madrid.

Ball launched down the feld and Osasuna's Raul Navas heads back to Martinez.

Corner sent in by Ruben but it's cleared for a throw. Osasuna attack again. 

Another nice attack from Osasuna and Brandon is through before Militao recovers and puts it out for a corner. A lot of space at the back there for Osasuna to work in.

Madrid win the ball back and counter. Vinicius crosses but it's way too high over the six-yard box and out for a goal kick. 

Lovely cross in by Estupinan down the left but Ramos heads it away.

Finally sent in and headed out but only as far as Vazquez. He goes back to Areola and the fans don't like it. They want Madrid to attack. Tame start to far from both sides.

Corner for Real Madrid. Kroos to Valverde and he tries to work it through to Nacho but Osasuna put it out for another corner.

Yellow for Militao as he clatters into the Ruben Garcia and catches him on the back of the leg.

Brandon tries a ball in around the back but can't find his man as Militao steps in front of it. 

Osasuna starting to get into this. Ruben versus Odriozola and he sends it across the field as they continue their attack.

Casemiro fouls Ruben Garcia but the referee says nothing to see here. Looked like he was fouled. 

First chance for Osasuna. Ibanez squares and it comes straight back out to him but he's offside. Ramos slid in and missed out on the challenge. 

Real Madrid with all of the ball to start here though as Osasuna back off.

Osasuna put Areola under pressure, who gives it to Casemiro and he sends it to Ramos. He kicks it out for a throw.

Osasuna have been excellent though.

Not a huge crowd at the game so far. They all seem to be taken this one for granted, maybe, with the Sevilla game that came before and the Atlético Madrid game coming after it. 

Zidane says "when we lose, I'm out and when we win, I'm in" during his press conference ahead of the game. I wonder will he be in or out tonight.

Zidane will be hoping none of his defenders suffer an injury tonight because if Nacho is missing, for example, he has nobody who can play left-back in his squad. Likewise, Ramos is playing a lot of minutes lately with a huge game at the weekend.

No place for Chimy Avila in Osasuna's XI tonight.

The only three to survive from the Sevilla game are Ramos, Kroos and Casemiro as Zidane eyes the derby on Saturday night. 

Zidane really rings the changes. Rests for Courtois, Carvajal, James, Varane, Hazard and Benzema. And that's not to mention Bale left at home. Massive amount of chances for players like Vinicius, Valverde and Jovic.

One problem for Zidane to solve is at left-back. Fran García offers a direct option but Nacho might play there after Ferland Mendy was ruled out for the game.

Bale has been rested too for the visit of Osasuna.

Left out against Osasuna as a precaution, Luka Modric's sights are set on returning from injury in Saturday's Madrid derby against Atlético.
