Guardiola: "I will defend human rights no matter where and when"

Guardiola was asked about the issues in Catalonia and says he will always fight for human right no matter if it's in Madrid or in any of the Arabic countries.

Pep Guardiola was asked about the conflict in Barcelona after the Clásico was postponed due to civil unrest in Catalonia. The manager, who was charged by the FA for wearing a politcial symbol in the form of a Catalan band around his arm in 2018. He called on the international community to help the current situation.

"How incredible the people.. from all around Catalonia giving support to the seven politcal prisoners and two social activists, who are in jail more than 100 years altogether. I think the international community must help us to solve the conflict from Catalonia, Spain," he said during his press conference before the Crystal Palace game at the weekend.

Guardiola says he will always defend human rights

Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, who are owned by City Football Group based out of Abu Dhabi, says he can be counted on to defend human rights everywhere.

"I think so," said Pep when asked is people from other countries should stand up and say something. "But normally, everyone looks at their own situation and when they're not involved too much, people look right, left and they dont....we need it. We need Europe to resolve this conflict. People don't trust each other too much.

"If they need me they can count on me to defend human rights. Here, in Arabic countries, wherever. We have to fight against racism, discrimination of gender, equality between men and women, I will be there all the time. No matter where and when."
