Man United 1-1 Liverpool: Premier League

Update:
MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - OCTOBER 20: Adam Lallana of Liverpool celebrates after scoring his sides first goal with Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool FC at Old Trafford on October 20, 20

Manchester United vs Liverpool: as it happened!

Liverpool win a point for themselves. Rashford gave United the lead but Lallana with a late eveller saves Klopp's unbeaten run in the Premier League. Their last loss was against City back in January.

90+5

GAME OVER! United hang on in the end but it was all United for a lot of that game.

90+5

Last chance saloon. Liverpool win a corner.

94+5

Chamberlain looks for TAA out the far side of the post and it's well over.

90+3

Nothing comes from it as Liverpool get a free. Offside was the call.

90+3

Corner for United.

90+2

Chamberlain drives a shot just wide. He might have had De Gea beaten there but it's just wide of the post. Was that the chance?

90

Five minutes of added time.

88

Some more pressure from Liverpool as Alexander Arnold drives a shot over the bar.

84

GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Lallana knocks it home at the back post. Rojo went out to the ball and Lallana hung back. Fairly handy goal for him.

83

Rashford off for Martial.

77

Lallana gets clipped as he breaks forward.

76

United will be delighted with how this is going. Liverpool just kind of wearing themselves out by making moves around the middle. Nothing dangerous yet.

72

Lallana on for Henderson.

71

Maguire collides with Van Dijk in the air. Two of the most expensive defenders in the world. Free to Van Dijk.

69

Fabinho clatters into James and concedes the free in the middle of the field.

65

There's that counter attack. Ball whipped out to Rashford and he chests it down, drives into the middle and then smashes it just wide.

64

Oxlader Chamberlain takes the ball outside the box. Thinks about shooting, makes a better angle and then does strike. Drags it wide.

62

TAA with the cross, headed out by Maguire. It is better by Liverpool but they're still bereft of ideas in the box for now. Let's see if they can fix it. The more they attack and camp out in United's half, the more dangerous United could be on the break too.

62

Cross from the left. Liverpool getting a bit of a purple patch now.

59

First change of the game and it's Oxlade Chamberlain for Origi.

58

Daniel James gets turned upside down by Fabinho and stays on the ground. Liverpool attack again but eventually kick the ball out.

56

Oxlade-Chamberlain is coming on for Liverpool.

55

Nice cross in from TAA as Liverpool launch an attack. A sustained one that is. Wan Bissaka gets it away. More pressure though from the visitors.

54

Ball out to Young and he can't control that one.

52

Game is very sloppy now as the ball is headed up into the air about 8 times. James finally takes it down and attack for United. Liverpool still lost here and not their usual selves.

52

We are back underway.

48

James got turned upside down with a challenge from Van Dijk. Liverpool don't kick it out immediately but eventually do. He gets some medical attention. Looked like a really sore one in the stomach for James.

47

Liverpool with the fresher start. Mane catches Maguire this time though as they battle in the box. Foul.

46

We are back underway. No changes for either side.

45+1

That's it. After a corner for United, which Young takes, and United can't do anything with, it's the whistle for the break.

45+1

One minute of added time. We are almost half a minute into it now. Half-time approaching fast. United still lead.

45

Way clearer than the first one. It's handball.

43

GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Mane gets the wrong side of Lindleof and finishes. Oh, hint of a handball. We got to VAR.

40

Liverpool struggling in this half.

Goal given! VAR was never going to be able to intervene there. Lindelof with the supposed foul on Origi but there was nothing in it whatsoever.

37

GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Marcus Rashford with the goal. Ball in from the right as Rashford knocks it home. Talk of a foul before it but looks like it won't matter and can't be overturned.

35

Firmino with the header from a Henderson. He's offside after forcing a great save from De Gea.

34

Mane with a nice touch to keep the ball from going out. He propelled himself forward with the touch at the same time. Then he squares to Firmino and it's an easy one for De Gea.

31

Robertson with a pass into Firmino but that's a really pacey ball. He can't control it. United break and Pereira finds himself offside.

30

Henderson and Young clash. Free for United as the defender goes down grabbing his face.

29

Liverpool get what has become a rare chance to attack. Crossed into Firmino, who got something on it. He says it should be a corner but it's De Gea to get us started again.

28

Again. Crossed in from the right this time by Wan-Bissake and it's cleared. Throw for United. Liverpool can't get control of it as Fabinho pops to Firmino and he loses it.

28

Robertson obviously watching the Rugby World Cup yesterday as he tackles James to the ground and gives away a free.

27

Rashford races by about six players and then crosses but it bounces up awkwardly and hits his knee as Alisson scrambles out to save. United by far the more danger side so far.

26

McTominay breaks into attack and rides a challenge. He shoots and Alisson gets down to save.

24

Cross into the box and Wan-Bissaka heads down into De Gea.

22

Corner is punched up in the air by Alisson. They get it away and then Mane fouls Fred just outside the box. A little congested by Liverpool in attack.

22

Rashford leaves Van Dijk on the ground as the ball gets looped over the top. He plays to Pereira and he shoots. Blocked out for a corner.

21

United attack now but Liverpool have men back to stop the counter.

19

Crossed into the box and over everyone except Young. He takes it down and clears.

17

Pereira with a backheel now in the box. Nice idea as he was going nowhere otherwise but Alisson is out to gather. Testing the calf and looks fine so far.

15

United under a little more pressure now on the ball. Liverpool haven't settled either but have been better in the last couple of minutes.

12

Wijnaldum tries his luck. Really not much better than Pereira lame shot earlier. De Gea gets in on the action.

12

Andreas Pereira with a nice break and shot. Really poor effort though as Alisson gets his gloves wet.

10

Finally, Liverpool get a break. Origi fouled after a lovely free sent into the danger zone. Liverpool suffcated in the last five minutes. Mane headers into the path of Firmino and his shot is so far wide that it lands back in Maceió.

8

Wan-Bissaka picks out Pereira and he sends it across to Rashford. Blocked again but United with the throw. And then the free. Fred standing over it.

8

Nice ball sprayed out to Wan-Bissaka and it's sent into the box. Van Dijk clears but that doesn't completely repel United. Young down the left now and it's a throw for United.

6

Rashford gets a push in the back as he receives the ball down the left.

6

Slopp in general from Liverpool here early on. United have been the better side to start. Rojo the latest with a cross and that's blocked but hits off him for a goalkick.

5

Lindleof lets Origi nip in front of him and steal it down the channel. The Swede looked like he tripped the Belgian but the referee doesn't get involved in the international affair and says no foul.

4

Liverpool settling in now. Robertson races forward and a sloppy touch gifts it to Wan-Bissaka.

3

Wan-Bissaka with another throw. Wijnaldum chests it down and hooves it into Young's chest. Played forward to Rashford and he sends it across the box. Cleared!

2

Wijnaldum wins it back off Pereira in the middle and it's Liverpool's first chance to show us what they plan on doing on the ball. All very frantic at the moment though. As you might have expected.

1

We are underway! Manchester United kick us off and kick it up the field with Van Dijk getting his noggin on it to clear.

Teams out ono the field. A surge of excitement. This is the big one! United in their red jerseys and Liverpool have to make do with their white away ones. Big applause from Solskjaer and a hug for Fred.... the mascot, not the midfielder.

Liverpool fans reminding United fans of how many Champions League titles they have won! Not that they needed reminding.

9 games, 8 goals conceded in the Premier Leagure for De Gea so far. Just two clean sheets so far.

Okay, more drama. A late change for United?

Two goalkeepers returning to action today. De Gea didn't miss any time but you could say he is back from an injury. Alisson on the other hand hasn't been seen since the opening day when he went off injured with a calf issue. They won that day, against Norwich, and have won every game in the Premier League since. He is back today though after that long absence, sending Adrian back to the bench.

Solskjaer says De Gea was desperate to play. He says the injury issues in general are starting to clear up.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole says United won't wait 30 years to win the league. There has been a lot of speculation about his job security. They're off to their worst ever start to the Premier League and a loss here today would send him one step closer to the sack.

Salah is out of the squad completely, which is some relief for United fans but aside from that, when you compare the two teams, it's Liverpool you would probably take in this. But this is the most storied rivalry in England and the form book was launched out the window earlier ahead of this one!

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Henderson, Van Dijk, Fabinho, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Origi, Mane,

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Young, Maguire, Lindelof, Tuanzebe, McTominay, Fred, Pereira, James, Rashford.

Salah is not with the Liverpool squad that arrived at Old Trafford according to reports now too. Some late and interesting team news.

It was a groin injury that he suffered. That's quite a risky strategy if he's not 100%. Given the pace that Klopp's side press with, De Gea could be shifting and twisting a lot. That Spain game was on Tuesday night so just four full days of recovery.

De Gea starts according to Mark Ogden.

The Independent's Miguel Delaney said there was a chance of De Gea playing today despite going off in the first half of Spain's game against Sweden earlier in the week.

Eric Bailly, Tomothy Fosu-Mensah, Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw, David de Gea and Paul Pogba look like they are all out. But Anthony Martial and Wan-Bissaka could return. We will have team news very shortly.

Manchester United have fallen further than many imagined they could in recent years. This article by Daniel Taylor is excellent and a look into some of the things that have gone wrong, along with what they are trying to do to rectify their issues.

Hello and welcome to our online coverage of Manchester United vs Liverpool. There is a lot on the line today with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clinging on to his post as United manager and with Liverpool holding onto their unbeaten record to start the season. They'll be keen to to reestablish their 8 point lead after City beat Palace yesterday. They've won 8 from 8 and with United's injury woes and poor form, they'll really fancy piling further humiliation on their rivals on Sunday. Kick-off from Old Trafford is at 17:30 CEST.
