Toni Kroos is a dab hand at defusing tension and defending his Real Madrid team mates. This week, he spoke up for Gareth Bale, explaining why there's no problem when the Welsh forward leaves the stadium before the final whistle when he hasn't been involved in the game. Kroos was asked what he thought of Bale leaving the Bernabéu during the Betis game with the score at 0-0 on 80 minutes.
"We have our own set of rules within the dressing room so we all know that if one of us hasn't played, they are free to leave - five or 10 minutes before the final whistle. Why not? There's no problem. I'm sure Gareth had a look at his mobile phone to check the result when the game ended!"
