The Frenchman has never lost a final during his managerial career - he won the three Champions League finals he oversaw on the Madrid bench (2016, 2017, 2018), as well as two European Super Cup finals (2017, 2018), two Club World Cup finals (2016 and 2017) and one Spanish Super Cup (2017).

Zizou's second Super Cup title is his 10th trophy with Real Madrid (including the 2016/17 LaLiga title) and puts him just four trophies behind equalling Miguel Muñoz's record of 14 as the most successful coach in club history at Madrid. Overall, Zidane has won 66% of the matches played (125 wins, 40 draws and 22 defeats in 185 games) during his two spells at the club from January 2016 until June 2018 and from March 2019 to the present.

Zidane kickstarted Madrid with three trophies in 2016

Zidane's run began in the Champions League final against Atlético in 2016 (1-1 after full-time, 5-3 on penalties). That win came as a boost for Los Blancos who two months later, beat Sevilla 3-2 to win the European Super Cup. The team capped a memorable 2016 by staging a comeback to defeat Kashima Antlers 4-2 and add the Club World Cup to their collection. In less than seven months, Zidane has already won three finals. But the best was yet to come - Madrid thrashed Juventus in the Champions League final in June 2017, lifted the European Super Cup again (beating Manchester United 2-1 in Skopje) as well as the Spanish Super Cup (beating Barça twice over two legs - 1-3 at Camp Nou and 2-0 at the Bernabéu). Zidane's Madrid were unstoppable, suffering just three defeats between August and December of that year (losing to Betis, Girona and Tottenham). 2017 was crowned with the Club World Cup once again, this time Grêmio were the victims. Zidane's Madrid completed a sextuple of sorts and followed that up with a third consecutive Champions League, beating Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev.

New records in sight for rampant Real Madrid

Madrid have gone 16 games without defeat in official competition. The team's last defeat was against Mallorca In October. The team went 40 games without defeat (30 wins and 10 draws between April 2016 and January 2017. The current run is their best since then. Zidane holds more records than any other coach in Madrid history. He guided the team to three consecutive Champions Leagues (Carlo Ancelotti and Bob Paisley are the only other two coaches to have won the trophy three times), Zizou also holds the record for the fewest defeats in his first 100 games in charge (8) and 60 games without defeat. Zidane requires just four more trophies to pull level with Miguel Muñoz, and make both men the most successful coaches in Real Madrid history.
