Esports WEGA Global Games tournament kicks off in Qatar

The Esports WEGA Global Games tournament is underway in Qatar, with the opening ceremony being held at the Khalifa International Stadium, one of the grounds that will host the WOrld Cup 2022. The tournament is being organised by Aspire Zone and TRUXTUN Capital, and includes games such as PES, Street Fighter, DOTA2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Mohammed Mubarak Al Kuwari, executive director of marketing of Aspire Zone, explained the organising committee chose the Khalifa Stadium to be the venue for the launch due to its importance for the country. At the ceremony the tournament's logo was revealed, along with more details of the event, that was attended by 14,000 fans.

"The tournament is divided into four phases, the first is the inauguration, with more details about the event being revealed, while the second phase will be a tournament for gamers in Qatar in March, followed by the WEGA international tournament in September, with the finals in December", said Kuwari.
