When Reinier could make his debut for Real Madrid
Real Madrid's new signing will initially be under the orders of Raul at Castilla and will wear the number '19' shirt.
Reinier Jesus Carvalho has arrived in Madrid. The young Brazilian player, who signed for Real from Flamengo for 30 million euros (plus five million more in variables), landed in the Spanish capital on Saturday in time to be officially unveiled at the Santiago Bernabéu this Tuesday.
For the moment Reinier will ply his trade with Castilla, Madrid’s ‘B’ team, as the quota of three non-EU players in the first team has already been filled by Militao, Rodrygo and Vinicius. And on Sunday, the 18-year-old watched his new team draw 2-2 against Rayo Majadahonda on television before heading to the Bernabéu to attend the first team’s game against Celta Vigo (which also ended 2-2).
Reinier could make Castilla debut this Sunday
For now, it remains to be seen when Reinier will make his debut in the white shirt. His first opportunity could come this Sunday evening in the clash between Castilla and San Sebastián de los Reyes at Real Madrid City. But the question is whether Castilla coach, Raúl, will choose to throw him into action or if he will give the young midfielder more time to adapt to his new surroundings.
Fitness will certainly not be an issue as he has come fresh from the South American pre-Olympic qualifying tournament in Colombia with Brazil's Under-23s and was playing regularly with 2019 Brazilian champions, Flamengo.
If Raúl does not opt to hand him his debut this Sunday against Sanse, his next chance will be away to Pontevedra the following weekend. After that comes Galician club, Coruxo, on the weekend of March 7 at Real Madrid City.
