The Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy for 2022 World Cup Qatar has given an update on the preparations to Turkish journalists.

Al-Thawadi: Qatar will be completely ready before 2022 World Cup

The Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy for 2022 World Cup Qatar Hassan Al-Thawadi has given an update on the preparations for the tournament to a delegation of Turkish journalists visiting Doha. With World Cup Qatar Chief Executive Officer Nasser Al-Khater in attendance, he explained how work was progressing with less than 1000 days to go before the tournament starts. Al-Thawadi added that Qatar is making excellent headway to ensure that all of the preparations for the event will be completed ahead of schedule.

Turkish delegation impressed with Al-Janoub stadium

The Turkish delegation were taken a tour of the Al-Janoub stadium, one of the eight venues which will stage matches at Qatar 2022, located in Al-Wakrah city and inaugurated in May last year. They were given a detailed briefing on all aspects of the features of Al-Janoub stadium – including the new techniques used in its construction. The Turkish media were full of praise for the design of the stadium as well as the impressive technical aspects of the installations and stadium lighting but particularly the technology behind the cooling system which lowers temperatures and which will be used for the first time in World Cup history.

Jassim Saad Al-Rumaihi, Media Officer for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy applauded the Turkish delegation’s visit to Al-Janoub stadium, adding that such visits are a good way of showing how preparation for Qatar 2022 are coming along. It is positive that the international media get to see first-hand how the each phase is developing and the advances that are being made as well as sending out a message to the rest of the world that Qatar is on target to organise an extraordinary and memorable World Cup.
