Guillermo Ochoa: “Our biggest rival is Chivas, not Pumas”
Club America’s goalkeeper admits that there is history between his club and Pumas but in his opinion their biggest rival will always be Chivas.
For Guillermo Ochoa the game between America and Pumas is not a Clásico. The goalkeeper spoke ahead of the game in a press conference where he accepted that there is a lot of history between these two teams but their biggest rival will always be Chivas.
"For us the only Clásico we have each semester is against Chivas, maybe other teams think the opposite when they face us, " he said.
"I understand that some players from the youth academies that make the first team see the game between America and Pumas as a Clásico but I think it is because they play in the same city. I experienced it when I played the games as a young player."
That is why Ochoa is also aware of the importance of the game against Pumas for some players, especially the ones who are young and come from the youth academies.
“The games against Pumas can define a players career without a doubt, because a lot of people will be watching this derby. So it doesn’t matter if you’re a young player or a veteran because it is a nice opportunity to shine and play a game of this magnitude," he added.
