Brazil coach Tite has announced his squad for the World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru and while Real Madrid and Atlético are well-represented in the Canarinha list there is no place for Vinicius Junior, who won his only senior cap in September 2019, despite his recent form for Zinedine Zidane’s side and Gabriel Jesus being suspended for the first fixture.

Casemiro and Éder Militão have been included in Tite’s squad, as have Atlético defenders Lodi and Felipe, as well as Barcelona midfielder Arthur, who is currently struggling with an ankle issue and has been left out of Quique Setién’s squad for this weekend’s match against Real Sociedad. Rodrygo and Marcelo, who have been sidelined by Zinedine Zidane to greater and lesser extents this season, have also been overlooked.

Tite has named a 24-man squad for the games against Bolivia (27 March in Pernambuco) and Peru (31 March in Lima).
