Confirmed US coronavirus cases

As of 03:30 CEST on Sunday, 29 March (21:30 EDT, 18:30 PDT), there were a total of 123,498 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US, with 2,211 deaths. 3,231 people in the country have officially recovered after contracting Covid-19.

The United States became the first country to register over 100,000 coronavirus cases and on Saturday reached the grim milestone of 2,000 deaths.

American president Donald Trump has said that he is considering enforcing quarantine measures in New York, New Jersey and Conneticut, an idea which New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, has called "anti-American" and "counter-productive".

Saturday also saw the U.S. report the first coranvirus-related infant death in Chicago. The infant was under one year old. It has not been made known at this time if the child had any underlying condtions.

Worldwide coronavirus cases

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide at the above time stood at 663,541. In all, 30,873 people have died from Covid-19, while 142,175 have recovered from the disease.
