Turkey's most capped Rustu hospitalised with coronavirus
The 46-year-old goalkeeper has been hospitalised in his native Turkey and is in a “critical period”, according to his wife.
Rüştü Reçber is the latest high profile sporting personality to test positive with the Covid-19 virus with the former international goalkeeper rushed to hospital after a positive test late on Saturday.
"We have taken my husband Rustu to hospital with a Covid-19 diagnosis. While everything was normal, we are still in shock by the sudden and rapidly developing symptoms,” his wife Isil Recber posted on her Instagram account adding that she and both children had all tested negative for the virus and requested privacy at this testing time.
Reçber is the most capped Turkish football international making 120 appearances for the Balkan nation with his debut coming in 1994 and his final appearance in 2012. His performances at the 2002 World Cup say the stopper feature in the tournament's all star team.
During his domestic career, the Antalya born player for both Istanbul giants Besiktas and Fenerbahce along with a brief but disappointing spell at Catalan outfit FC Barcelona only making four appearances for the LaLiga side between 2003/2006.
