According to the latest figures published by Johns Hopkins University, 7,185,573 cases have been detected worldwide, with 408,954 deaths and 3,352,665 people now recovered.
In India, there have been 276,146 cases confirmed, 7,750 people have died and 134,667 people have recovered from the virus.
India cases jump in June
India has registered 50 percent of all cases recorded in May in the first nine days of June, according to the latest available figures.
Delhi continues to brace for spike
The authorities in Delhi have ordered 22 more private hospitals to make beds available for Covid-19 patients as numbers continue to rise in the state, officials have said.

Delhi coronavirus cases set to explode, hospitals running out of beds
Delhi's infections of coronavirus will climb to more than half a million by the end of July and it does not have the hospital capacity to handle such an outbreak, the city state's deputy chief minister said on Tuesday.
The warning came as harrowing accounts of people struggling to get a hospital bed in the Indian capital emerged, including some who said their loved ones died on the doorsteps of medical centres which refused to take them in.
Despite a vast lockdown of its 1.3 billion people imposed in March, the disease is spreading in India at one of the world's fastest rates as it re-opens a battered economy.
The caseload stood at 266,598, the world's fifth largest and set to overtake the United Kingdom in the next few days.

Manish Sisodia told reporters. By then it will need 80,000 beds compared with its current capacity of nearly 9,000. "For Delhi this is a big problem, if cases continue to rise," he said.

Did Covid-19 begin in August 2019
The novel coronavirus may have been spreading in China as early as August 2019, according to Harvard Medical School research based on satellite images of hospital travel patterns and search engine data.
'Increased hospital traffic and symptom search data in Wuhan preceded the documented start of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in December 2019,' according to the research. 'While we cannot confirm if the increased volume was directly related to the new virus, our evidence supports other recent work showing that emergence happened before identification at the Huanan Seafood market.'
