Klinsmann advises Bale to leave Real Madrid: "He's wasting his time"
The German coach spoke to talkSPORT 2 about Bale's situation, and hopes he returns to the Premier League: "As a Tottenham fan, I'd love him to come back".
Gareth Bale's delicate situation at Real Madrid as been a talking point for the past few months. Jürgen Klinsmann is the latest to give his opinion on the Welsh forward's predicament. "Time goes by so fast as a player and you cannot waste it," the coach told talkSPORT 2’s Sportsday programme. Neither Zidane nor the club are counting on Bale next season but the player is under contract until 2022 and isn't thinking about leaving if he means he will lose out economically, as AS reported back on 21 July.
Bale not playing at Real Madrid: "Being on the bench is the worst punishment a player can have. The most important thing for every player is to be on the field playing. When things are not working out, sooner or later you have to come to a conclusion and consider it may be time to move on".
Money, and influencing factor: "There is a point in time when you become a professional player when you would like to earn a decent amount of money that you can put on the side to feel a bit more safe. But once that goal is achieved there is only one other thing that matters – playing and scoring goals and building your playing record. You want to leave the game one day in your 30's and say ‘OK, look at my career there, I managed to score in X amount of teams and X amount of goals in different competitions’".
Priorities: "Money doesn’t matter anymore. Money has no influence on that decision right now that Gareth has to make. But there are personal elements to it. There is family and lifestyle things to consider".
Bale returning to the Premier League: "We would love to have the chance to admire a player like him week in, week out, on television. As a Tottenham fan, I would love him to come back to Spurs".
