Real Madrid have raised 110 million euros during the transfer window
So far, Real Madrid have brought in 110M euros from selling players - 125M including loan deals and Castilla players. The club want to find an outlet for Mariano.
Real Madrid continue making progress with their three objectives concerning the first team squad during the current transfer window - to reduce the number of players on the payroll (Lunin and Rodrygo have been registered with Castilla for the time being), reduce the total amount of money spent on wages and boost the club's coffers by selling players. The strategy was given an extra push this weekend with the sale of Sergio Reguilón to Tottenham.
Reguilón's transfer, who has joined Mourinho's team on a deal which will keep him in London until June 2025, has brought in 30 million euros plus another five in add-ons. The agreement includes two key clauses for Madrid and the full-back: Madrid retain the option to buy the player back for 40 million euros up until 2022, while Reguilón will have the first right of refusal if other offers for him come in.
The transfers of Achraf Hakimi (40 million plus bonuses) to Inter Milan, Reguilón (30M+5), James (25M, although some have claimed it was a free transfer) to Everton and Óscar (15M for 75% of his rights) to Sevilla have raised 110 million euros for Real Madrid. That income lessens the economic impact of the coronavirus crisis on the club. To that figure, other sources of income can be added - possibly a further 10 million euros in add-ons from Inter and Tottenham in the Achraf and Reguilón operations, which would take the final figure to 120 million.
Madrid making monet from their youth academy
And Madrid are increasing revenue from other sources. Gareth Bale's loan move to Tottenham until June 2021 will free the club from paying half of his salary - 15 million euros; Madrid are looking for an outlet for Mariano while Borja Mayoral's situation remains up in the air. Mayoral had been considering several offers over the summer but he has impressed Zidane in training and could end up staying while the club is seeking a loan arrangement for Luka Jovic. Mayoral has been included in the squad list for today's meeting with Real Sociedad.
On top of the direct sales of first team squad players, Madrid have also managed to raise cash in other ways - Take Kubo's loan to Villarreal (2.5M million plus 2.5 in add-ons) and Reinier's loan to Borussia Dortmund (the figure has not been disclosed). Then there the deals involving Castilla players which have brought in a total of 13 million euros so far - three million for 50% of Javi Sánchez's right in his move to Valladolid, 2.5 million for 50% of De Frutos' rights in his switch to Levante, 2.5 million for 50% of Dani Gómez's rights (Levante), 2.5 million for Baeza in his transfer to Celta and 2.5 million plus add-ons for Soro's move to Granada. During the crisis, Madrid have managed to raise a total of 125.5 million euros.
