Algerian club CR Belouizdad has seen an alarming spread of Covid-19 infection among players and staff, with several members returning positive tests, including French head coach Franck Dumas.

CR Belouizdad officials decided to end the team's preparatory camp in Mostaganem on Wednesday following the detection of nine Covid-19 infections in the camp, with six players having contracted the virus. This led to all members of the camp undergoing tests, which revealed several more positive cases.

A source has revealed to outlet El-Khabar that the carelessness and indifference of players, technical, and even medical staff during the camp in Mostaganem was the main reason behind the uncontrollable spread of the infection, as precautionary measures and social distancing were completely disregarded.

Dangerous and unacceptable behavior:

Furthermore, defender Sofiane Bouchar, who had to be sent back to the capital after being one of the first members to test positive for the virus, has been identified for his reckless behaviour as he refused to go into self-quarantine and even participated in a game in Dély Ibrahim.

The wave of infections has also hit head coach Franck Dumas and the club's sporting director Taufiq Qureshi, with news reports confirming that the relationship between the pair has become very tense due to the leniency the French coach has been showing toward the players amid the pandemic.
