With 16 nominations Post Malone was the most nominated artist. Categories he was nominated for include top artist, top male artist and top Billboard 200 album with “Hollywood’s Bleeding”.

Post Malone leads Billboard nominations

Lil Nas X came in second with 13 nominations followed by Billie Eilish and Khalid with 12 nominations. The latter two have both been nominated for top artist, with Billie Eilish also competing for top new artist and Khalid for top male artist having won top new artist in 2018.

Other artists to watch for are Taylor Swift who could win a record third artist of the year. She previously won in 2013 and 2015. She is currently nominated for 6 awards to add to the 23 she has previously won. Kayne West is competing for nine awards with four of the five nominations for top gospel song.

Drake with the most BBMAs, with 27, has been nominated for another 5 awards.
Three categories started to be voted on by fans from 1 October. They are chart achievement, top social artist and top collaboration, the latter of which Post Malone and Swae Lee’s “Sunflower” is a contender. The primary voting platform will be TikTok this year.

Kelly Clarkson will host the event again this year to be broadcast live on Wednesday, 14 October at 8:00 p.m. ET from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on NBC. The ceremony was originally scheduled to take place earlier this year on 29 April, however, due to the covid-19 pandemic it was postponed. The awards are based on the chart period from 23 March 2019 to 14 March 2020.
