Some stats from the game: Cádiz had more shots (14-13), won more tackles (14-8), more aerial duels (19-14) and had more corners (11-4) than Real Madrid.

90+3

Corner for Madrid, last chance for the home side... but no! The ref blows before there's time for the delivery and Cádiz have beaten Real Madrid away for the first time in their 110-year history.

90+2

The visitors attempt to play it into the corner but it's out for a Madrid throw.

90+1

Militao goes into the book for a foul on Augusto. Cádiz in no hurry to take it...

90

Jovic! Goodness, that really sums it up. The substitute has a chance from the edge of the area but shanks it high with a first time effort.

89

Another Cádiz goal kick. Another leather towards the hoardings on the other side of the ground. Madrid bring it back towards Ledesma but Jovic is caught offside.

88

Ledesma thumps a goal kick up to the far end. Cádiz will try and keep the ball as far away from their keeper as possible for the remainder.

87

Three minutes for Cádiz to weather as they close in on a first ever away win over Real Madrid.

85

Double change for Cádiz, Jonsson and Álex Fernández off, Jairo and Augusto Fernández on.

84

Corner for Cádiz, but Madrid clear. The visitors will be happy to keep the ball up that end of the pitch anyway.

82

Cádiz are camped around their area now as Real probe for an opening.

80

Benzema whacks the woodwork! It was a lovely strike from the Frenchman and the bar comes to Cádiz's rescue. Few outside of Concha Espina would say the visitors don't deserve a slice of luck after their performance.

79

Goooooooo.... wait. Perhaps not. Jovic has the ball in the net but Benzema was clearly offside when he nodded across the box to the Serbia striker. 1-0 to Cádiz it remains!

77

And it's Kroos who makes way for the introduction of Jovic. None of Zidane's starting midfield remain on the pitch now. It's been a bizarre old game from the Frenchman.

77

Vinicius pings a cross clean out on the far side and Zidane looks like he's about to make his final change...

75

That's the end of José Mari's game, Jon Ander Garrido on to replace the midfielder.

74

Ledesma comes for a cross and punches the ball well out of the danger area. Cádiz remain largely unruffled by the Madrid attack this evening.

73

It looks as though both players will be able to continue, although José Mari has headed off to the touchline.

72

Marcelo and José Mari are both down after a 50-50 and that's a problem for Zidane, who has made four changes alerady...

71

Nacho gets a header on target and forces a diving save from Ledesma but the flag was up.

70

Vinicius is dispossessed all too easily and Luka Jovic looks like he's getting ready to come on...

68

Zidane claps his hands on the touchline. Why, we're not quite sure. Without getting too far ahead of ourselves, this ranks as one of, if not the, worst Real Madrid performance of his two tenures at the club.

66

Ufffff! Madrid escape again as a scruffy ball is poked towards goal with Courtois rooted to the spot. Cádiz could teach Madrid a thing or two about taking corners... every one has been landed on the penalty spot with unerring accuracy. And it says a lot about Real's back line today that they haven't figured that out yet.

65

Another corner for Cádiz, who are starting to look very confortable with their lead. Madrid have barely made a dent in the visitors' game plan.

Here's how the Liga table will look in 25 minutes or so if the result here stays the same.

Madrid get into a right pickle at the back again and just about manage to hoof the ball clear as Cádiz look to test Courtois.

60

Madrid have confirmed Ramos has a problem in his knee, which could spell trouble for Zidane ahead of the Clásico and Shakhtar on Wednesday.

58

On their last two visits to Madrid to play Real, Cádiz have taken the lead on both occasions only to eventually lose 3-1. There are few signs that will be the case today. Madrid have still had one shot on target in the space of an hour.

56

Cádiz break again through substitute Malbasic and after Negredo fails to control the initial cross he gets another chance as he slips in between the central defenders and glances another header wide. Normally, you'd exect a player with Negredo's aerial abilities to have hit the target with one of his three headed attempts.

54

Vinicius hits another effort well high from inside the area. He hasn't really justified Zidane's decision to hook Isco and Lucas Vázquez ahead of him.

52

Cádiz win a corner as they start the second half as they ended the first, looking to punish Madrid's defensive frailty on the brerak.

Lozano also off at half time, suggestng both he and Ramos came off from that collision with knocks.

48

Vinicius! The Brazilian's shot hits Benzema and spins over the bar.

46

Ramos, Modric, Isco and Lucas Vázquez off.

46

Good lord... four changes from Madrid! Militao, Asensio, Casemiro and Valverde on!

Little surprise as Casemiro emerges from the tunnel for the second half.

Madrid got their shot rate up towards the end of the second half but Benzema's lukewarm effort remains the only shot on goal for the home side.

Thibaut saves!

45+1

Isco is almost through from Marcelo's cheeky reverse ball but Jonsson gets a boot in and the ref blows for half time! Cádiz go into the break with a deserved lead and Zidane, who has got it all wrong in the opening half has another 45 to prevent the visitors from pulling off a first away win in club history.

45

And they won't have to wait long with just one minute added.

44

Free kick to Cádiz in midfield and the visitors are in no hurry to take it as they look to run the clock down to half time.

42

Cádiz almost have a second! An innocuous cross is not dealt with by Courtois and the ball falls to goal scorer Lozano. He wasn't really expecting it and fluffs a shot from close range. Another let-off for Madrid and Zidane will have to wheel Casemiro or Valverde out at half-time to stem the tide.

40

Vinicius! The Brazilian tries an overhead from Marcelo's pull back but doesn't quite get enough on it and it dribbles wide. The flag was up anyway for a marginal offside.

39

Salvi and Negredo combine on the right and the Spaniard's pace almost sees him through on goal. Fortunately for Madrid Varane was covering and managed to get back to nick the ball off the midfielder as he was looking to square.

37

Close! Varane pops up unattended in the melee and hits a header just wide of the post! Madrid almost had the equalizer there.

36

Madrid have a half chance as Lucas Vázquez streaks down the left and looks for Benzema in the middle. Cádiz cut it out and Madrid have a corner.

35

Aléx Fernández delivers the free kick and his brother, Nacho, knocks it behind for a corner.

33

Ramos finds his way into the book as he tussles with Lozano again. This time it's a clear foul by the Madrid captian and the ref's pen gets its first outing of the afternoon.

32

Blimey. Kroos has form for hitting the spot from the sort of distance he just attempted but it's a snapshopt of Madrid's disjointed performance so far as he almost clears the stadium with a wild lash at Isco's delivery.

29

Courtois! The Belgian comes to the rescue again as Lozano hits a low shot on target after a glorious ball from deep from José Mari. Madrid are really under the cosh here.

28

Both players are back up and play continues.

27

Ouch! Lozano and Sergio Ramos are both down after a collision.

25

Madrid have half an opening on the far side but Isco can't get the ball out from under his feet and decides to go down looking for a penalty instead. The home side are devoid of ideas at the moment.

23

Cádiz clear and Kroos tries his luck from distance but it's well over the bar.

22

Corner for Madrid... chance for something from the flag here.

20

Cádiz have had seven shots with four on target so far. Benzema's tame effort has been the only thing to warm Ledesma's gloves in the opening 20.

17

How will Zidane react to that? Madrid's midfield is no match for Cádiz in terms of intensity and Isco has been largely anonymous. Kroos and Modric are not on the same wavelength today either.

15

And there it is! The Honduran slips in and gets on the end of Negredo's through ball, lifting it over Courtois who may well ask where his defence had got to there.

15

Goooooooooooooool! Lozano!

14

Courtois! The Real keeper makes a fine save from Juan Cala, who drove through the entire Madrid back line there! Zidane's side are suffering and the Frenchman's decision to leave Casemiro and Valverde on the bench is looking like a bit of a mistake. Cádiz deserve a lead at this stage.

13

Negredo! Another lightning Cádiz break and the number nine just misses the post with a glancing header.

10

Lucas Vázquez goes on a run across the face of goal and lets fly with his left peg, but his shot is always on the rise and flies over the bar.

9

Madrid have their first shot on goal of the game, and it's Benzema with the strike. The Frenchman doesn't really get hold of it though and it causes no trouble for Ledesma in the Cádiz sticks.

6

Another mispaced pass from Madrid goes out on the far side and Cádiz have a throw.

4

Madrid have settled a bit after that scare and a lengthy period of possession ensues before Isco plays a loose ball towards Modric and Cádiz thump it clear.

2

Negredo! The former Real Madrid striker almost has the opener but Sergio Ramos appears out of nowhere to clear off the line! An early escape from Madrid after a defensive switch-off.

1

We're off! Cádiz get the ball rolling!

The teams are coming out now, Real Madrid in pink as a tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness Day, Cádiz in yellow. The Madrid anthem blares out across an empty Di Stéfano and we're about to get underway.

Madrid are hardly lacking in options either, with Asensio, Jovic and Rodrygo on hand if Zidane needs something a little different late in the game.

A quick look at Cádiz's bench and Cervera has some decent options available. Jairo, who has arrived on loan for a second spell, knows where the onion bag is located while Perea and Pombo can add a bit of width and guile to the attack

The work rate of Lucas Vázquez and Isco will be key to keeping the ball this afternoon, while the winger will also be obliged to stick in a shift in defence with Nacho likely to face a stern test on his second start of the season. Still, the 30-year-old has always been Real's Mr Reliable.

Interesting that Zidane has decided to eschew his traditional defensive midfield shield this afternoon. Is the Frenchman underestimating the opposition or has he got something else in mind? Kroos will probably drop back to perform a screening role on the back four but the Madrid midfield three will be up against it with Cádiz playing a flat 4-4-2.

Cádiz starting XI confirmed

And here's Cervera's XI. Álex Fernández will start against his old side, as will Álvaro Negredo. Anthony Lozano will partner Negredo with the visitors looking as though they will line up in a 4-4-2 with José Mari and Jens Jonsson at the base of midfield.

Real Madrid starting XI confirmed

Zidane has announced his side for this afternoon's game. Marcelo gets the nod over Mendy and Nacho comes in at right back so it's an old school back four for the home side. There's a bit of a surprise in midfield as both Casemiro and Valverde start on the bench with Isco joining Kroos and Modric in the middle.

Jovic under more pressure as Mayoral reveals Zidane talks

It will be interesting to see what Zidane does with Luka Jovic today as well after another headline grabbing week for the Serbia striker.

Zidane will be wary of Cádiz's ability on the counter this afternoon with the Real Madrid manager force to draft Nacho in at right back with Carvajal and Odriozola both out. Nacho's brother, Álex Fernández, will line up on the opposite side for Cádiz today after he came through La Fábrica back in the day.

It's also worth noting that Cádiz's two victories this season since promotion have been on the road - against Athletic and Huesca. Cervera's side are no mugs at the back, conceding just six so far, but they don't score many either, averaging one a game.

Cádiz have been doing rather well since their return to the top flight after a 15-year absence. Álvaro Cervera's side are nestled in mid-table after two wins and a draw in five games so far and the visitors have more or less a clean bill of health will Luismi Quezada and Iza the only absentees this afternoon.
