Zamalek are already suffering with an absence of key players before the return leg of the Champions League semi-final against Raja, with the situation worsening following the injury picked up by their defender Mahmoud Hamdy Al Wensh in the fixture against Ismaily in the domestic league on Monday night.

News has confirmed that the injury will deprive Al Wensh of playing against Raja as the defender couldn't complete yesterday's game and got subbed off and replaced by Mohamed Abdul-Salam.

Al Wensh has sustained knee ligament problems that will hinder him from participating in the highly-anticipated face-off.

His injury comes as a major blow for the Egyptian side as the defender has played a very important role in the team keeping a clean sheet in the first leg when Zamalek managed to snatch a 1-0 victory in Casablanca.

Zamalek players resumed their training following the Ismaily game in which White Knights secured a very important win to secure second place behind Al-Ahly and therefore a Champions League seat for next season.

Zamalek's camp training was focused on recovery exercises at the gym for the players who played against Ismaily under the supervision of fitness coach Jose Pedro who assigned some special physical exercises to the players who were on the sidelines or ruled out of the fixture.

The Zamalek-Raja game was set to be held last week in Cairo before CAF decided to postpone it as per Raja's request due to the outrageous spread of Covid-19 infections among the players and staff.
