Spain coach Luis Enrique calls Asensio to replace injured Ansu Fati
Luis Enrique was forced to make another change to his squad list for the friendly against the Netherlands and Nations League games against Switzerland and Germany.
Luis Enrique has called Marco Asensio as a replacement for Ansu Fati in the Spain squad for this month's internationals. The Barça forward, who had been in the original list which the coach announced on Friday, tore the meniscus in his left knee in last night's league game against Betis. It is the second change that has been made to the 25-man squad - Jesús Navas, who picked up an injury in Sevilla's 1-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday, has also been dropped from the list.
The coach has decided to call up Asensio despite other players featuring in his preliminary list such as Real Sociedad's Portu, and Athletic Club Iker Muniain.
Trio out injured
Luis Enrique has more or less settled on the list of players who he will take to next year's Euros. Three players who are regulars for Spain but didn't make the list this time due to injury are Dani Carvajal, Thiago Alcántara and Rodrigo Moreno.
