Among Us teases a new upcoming map

It's the game that has taken much of the world by storm in 2020, and the developer has just released a tantalising tidbit on their official Twitter account.

Update:
Among Us teases a new upcoming map

It's one of the most-watched games on Twitch and one of the most-played games on Steam and mobile; and a brand new map just got released on social media. According to analysis by sleuth cartographers at IGN, the new map is an homage to the Toppat Clan Airship from the Henry Stickmin series, which was the last game created by Innersloth prior to Among Us.

What's in the new Among Us map?

The upcoming airship-themed map is rumoured to be due on 10 December. And it’s not the only update, also in the offing is an account system and colorblind support in the near future, according to Innersloth’s roadmap for the game.

The tease that the company showed only displays one room, which appears to be a bright cockpit area. Unlike the other Among Us maps, this one seems pretty clean, free of any wreckage. Though the view is seriously limited.

There’s also a vent in the middle for imposters to use, as well as a WiFi and a wiring box and several screens.

A follow-up tweet urged us to watch The Game Awards on 10 December, warning that thing are “getting reaaaaal suspicious over there,” so we’ll can expect more information about the upcoming additions to the game soon.

What is Among Us?

The year 2020 will be remembered for many things, most of them not very positive. But one surprise in the gaming world is that of Among Us. It was initially released two years ago but in the second half of this pandemic-disrupted year, it's downloads have rocketed. The simple InnerSloth  title - which has top charting global clones - has been accessed across the different platforms by hundreds of millions who are all aiming to be smarter than their opponents in this space-themed, online, multiplayer game. (Even Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, better known as congresswoman AOC, killed it, quite literally, in front of a massive Twitch audience).

Whether working collaboratively with your crew to achieve its objectives, or playing the role of the imposter and trying to sneakily knock off each of the others before they suss you out, you'll need your wits about you. Oh, and then there are all the hats, pets and skins to make it even more personalised.

Get ready to prepare your spaceship for departure as you take the challenge along with 4-10 players who make up the Crew, and connect online or via a local Wi-Fi. But it's not that straight forward.

You'll have to be aware that there are Imposters amid your ranks, one or more, and they want to stop you achieving your goals, by killing everyone!
