Solskjaer says points more important than performance after West Brom win
Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjear admitted his side's performance was well under par in the 1-0 win against West Brom.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said his side's performance was well below par in the 1-0 win over West Brom, but admitted that gaining three points was more important as the Red Devils moved up to 10th in the Premier League following the victory.
After United secured a resounding 3-1 win away to Everton before the international break, Solskjaer was expecting the same performance levels from his players, who could only muster a 1-0 victory against The Baggies thanks to a Bruno Fernandes-converted penalty.
"Definitely it wasn't a step forward performance-wise. We played really well against Everton last time, and that's a performance I was really happy with," said the Norwegian boss.
"This one is way below par but we got the win and sometimes the three points is more important than the performance. Even though, we know to get points and to move up the table we have to play better."
United's next face Istanbul Başakşehir in the Champions League on Tuesday before a tricky away trip to Southampton next weekend in the Premier League.
