Cádiz ended up with just 17.9 percent of the ball over the 90 minutes. Effective.
Cádiz 2-1 Barcelona: Alvaro Negredo puts hosts ahead
For our US readers, here's the moment Álvaro Negredo picked Barça's pocket for the eventual winner.
Negredo is out to speak. What is Álvaro Cervera's secret? Nothing, just hard work and everybody pulling together, the veteran striker responds.
Working against Koeman though is the fact that it was exactly the same plan Cádiz used to beat Real Madrid. Is the video player at Camp Nou bust?
Sergio Busquets is out to face the reporters... he says that there is no explanation for Barça's recent struggles but there is no lack of attitude or effort, which this evening is certainly a fair appraisal. Cádiz just had a plan and pulled it off in fine style.
Incredibly, that is Cádiz's first top-flight win at the Ramón de Carranza in 14 years. The last time they won a game at home was against Oviedo last season in Segunda División!
And that's it! Cádiz hang on for a famous 2-1 victory!
Corner for Barcelona! Could be the last chance.... Messi delivers but Cádiz clear.
Messi! It beats the wall but not whoever was behind it! Barça appeal for a hand but the ref waves his. Time running out for the visitors as Adekanye takes it up to the far corner.
Free kick for Barça as Messi is bundled over on the edge of the box!
Negredo! The striker breaks without support, pauses, takes a look and tries to beat Ter Stegen from about 40 yards!
Five minutes added!
Make that eight! Griezmann howls at the moon after his ferocious shot is stopped by the Cádiz keeper!
Good defensive work from Adekanye, who tracks Trincão in the area and wins a goal kick.
Seven saves from Ledesma now, and pretty much all of them have been in extremis. A fine game from the Argentinean.
Adekanye! The substitute is clean through but pulls his shot wide of the far post!
Ledesma again! No doubt as to who the man of the match is for the home side.
Messi! A bit of pinball in the area and the Barça captain has a pop but it's straight at Ledesma.
Cádiz 1-1 Barcelona: own goal Pedro Alcala
Barcelona's equaliser (only viewable for US readers)
Cádiz have the third at their mercy! Alejo is played through and draws a fine save from Ter Stegen!
And a triple change for Cádiz... Jonsson, Perea and Jairo off, Augusto, Adekanye and Alejo on.
Pjanic and Trincão on for Barcelona, Dest and Busquets off.
Messi! The Argentinean sees a piece of net open in the top corner and sends a ball in that direction but Ledesma is up to make another great save.
Barça going from side to side looking for an opening but Cádiz have got the shop locked up tight. The visitors have a corner though.
Dest! Busquets tees up a delicious ball and the USA international is through but skews his shot just wide of Ledesma's far post!
Cádiz are back in numbers again as Barça look to find a way through. Beyond Messi, the visitors have really offered little going forward.
Barça take it short, predictably as it was on the left, and Cádiz clear and break. The flag is up as the home side flood foward though.
Off the wall and into the stands for a corner. Cádiz down to 10 as Alcalá gets treatment for a knock on the touchline.
And there's a pause in the game now as Álcala is down. Free kick to Barça, Messi over it...
What a horrible mix-up from Barça! Alba throws the ball back towards his own area, Lenglet misses it, Ter Stegen fails to clear it and Negredo pops up to knock it in with his first touch of the game!
A change before the free kick, Negredo on for Giménez.
Cádiz almost through! Lenglet forced into sending Yann Bodiger to the turf and Cádiz have a free kick right on the edge of the area...
Messi twists and turns to buy a yard and finds Alba, whose cross-shot hits Alcalá, who diverts it past Ledesma into his own net! Unfortunate for the home side.
What a chance for Cádiz! Jairo breaks down the left with Giménez in support but his attempt to square in the area finds Ter Stegen!
Messi, Dembélé, Griezmann... all three are involved in an attempt on Cádiz's defences but the home side hold firm again.
This time Ter Stegen comes out to prevent any danger though.
Pressure from Cádiz now as first Jairo then Perea look to get the ball into the middle and the home side have a corner...
Barça clipping the ball around the area and Messi has a pop but Ledesma has the angle covered.
Lovely footwork from Perea to release Álex Fernández but the midfielder's cross field ball evades Jairo on the far side.
Back underway! And a couple of changes for Barça with Coutinho and Mingueza off and Dembélé and Pedri on.
19.8 percent possession may be some kind of a record but Cádiz won't care a jot. The ball in the back of the net is what counts and that's where the home side put it from the one chance they have had so far.
And that's the half! Cádiz go into the break one goal to the good, from one shot over the course of 45 minutes.
Barça get the ball into the box and Coutinho nods it goalwards but he's pulled up for a foul.
Goal kick to Cádiz. Ledesma checking what's on at the cinema before deigning to take it.
Cádiz get forward and Espino sends in a cross but Lenglet clears. Other than the goal, for which he was hardly to blame, Ter Stegen hasn't even seen the ball yet.
Coutinho throws in a clumsy challenge on Jairo and Cádiz have a free they will be in no hurry to take. Three minutes added.
Coutinho tries the same thing from the other side and Ledesma makes the save again, although this one was much more comfortable. A solid half from the Argentina keeper.
Messi! He goes for goal and Ledesma makes a fine fingertip save to deny the Barça captain. One for the scrap book there for the Cádiz stopper.
And now a corner for Barça... Messi to deliver.
And it's sent into the area at a very awkward height but Ledesma, who recently got an Argentina call-up, does well to claw it to safety.
The visitors will have a free kick though as Griezmann is tripped about 25 yards out.
It's no exaggeration to say that Koeman looks bemused on the Barça bench. His side are trying everything but to no avail so far.
Barça are struggling to find a way through the yellow brick wall. Alba tries to release Dest with a long ball but it trundles over the byline.
As it stands, this result would see Cádiz in fifth after the weekend's action, four points clear of Barça and two off the Champions League spots.
Lovely from Messi as the Argentinean lofts a ball into the area. Cádiz manage to hack it clear with Braithwaite hammering at the door.
Purists may moan but there is something just as impressive in a perfectly executed game plan as a free-flowing attacking side. When you stick the two together, it's almost like chess on the turf in Cádiz. The home side are moving their pieces expertly to block Barça's every line of attack.
And there goes Mauro, with summer signing Pedro Alcalá on to replace the Argentinean.
Looks like a Cádiz change coming up with Marcos Mauro limping after an awkward fall earlier.
Álex Fernández leads a rare Cádiz charge but there's little in support for the former Real Madrid man and the attack breaks down as Barça drop back.
Barça possession touching 80 percent now but Cádiz have their game plan and so far it's doing the trick.
Ledesma! The keeper didn't see much of that ball coming at him but pulls off a great reaction save to deny Messi!
Free kick to Barça as Messi jinks through the middle and is clothes-lined by Jonsson. This is very much Messi territory...
It's impressive to watch Cádiz's choreography at the back. Every time Barça come through the middle eight yellow shirts fall into line with military precision to shut down the lines.
Barça bossing possession as is to be expected but Cádiz's plan to keep the visitors' danger men away from the area appears to be working. Just the one shot on target so far from Barça as Messi pulls the trigger from distance and watches his effort fly high.
Corner for Barça as Busquets chips into the area again looking for Messi. Iza is there to nod it behind for Cádiz.
Ledesma! Braithwaite springs the offside trap and drives into the area, unleashing a decent shot that the Argentinean stops with a reaction save with his foot.
Uffffff! A vicious cross from Dest only needs a touch but Griezmann can't get a toe on it. Coutinho picks the ball up at the far stick and blasts high from close range.
Well, that is exactly the start Cádiz would have wanted. They aren't going to get too many chances so to make the first one count will give the home side the belief they can pull this off.
There was a melee in the area before the ball was stabbed in from close range. But it stands! Álvaro Giménez with the final touch and Cádiz have the lead!
But inevitably VAR will poke its nose in... not sure if it's offside or a foul that Barça are claiming. We wait....
A horrible clearance from Dest hands Cádiz a corner and this is where the home side will look to make hay.
Messi is trying to make something happen through the middle but Cádiz are back in numbers every time he gets the ball with clear instructions not to give the Argentinean an inch.
De Jong brings a Barça move to a close with a shot from the edge of the area but it clips a defender on the way and pops up into the gloves of the Cádiz keeper.
Plenty of the ball early for Barça and Busquets lofts it over the home defence for Griezmann to chase, but Ledesma gets there first.
We're off!

The teams are out and we are about to get underway in Cádiz!
Messi will be raring to go this evening after being rested for the victory over Ferencváros. The Argentinean has scored against every side currently in the top flight but has yet to bag against tonight's opponents. Messi faced Cádiz back in the 2005-06 season during the Andalusians' last stint in Primera in a 3-1 victory, where he provided an assist for Samuel Eto'o.
Koeman: "Griezmann is a great player"
Koeman sang the praises of Braithwaite in his pre-match press conference. The Denmark international was one of the club's more leftfield signings of the past few years but has earned his place in the side this season.
"Braithwaite always tries to stretch the pitch, he has depth, and he's helping the team because the others, from behind, take advantage of the space he generates thanks to his work. On top of that, he's effective within the box," the Barça boss said.
Order the man a sub
Not really anything to do with tonight's game per se, but an interesting stat nonetheless. When was the last time we saw a side not use any subs at all during a game?
Cádiz starting XI confirmed
And here's Cervera's XI. It looks like the standard 3-4-3 from the former Valencia and Sporting winger, who was unsure whether Álvaro Negredo would be fit enough to start. Jairo gets the nod up front with Alberto Perea pulling the strings in midfield.
Barcelona starting XI confirmed
Koeman has announced his XI and there's a bit of a surprise with Martin Braithwaite getting the nod up top. The Dutchman has obviously not vowed never to play the Dane and he has been in decent form over the past couple of weeks. That decision relegates Dembélé to the bench while Mingueza continues in the centre of defence.
Real Madrid caught napping as Lozano seals historic win for Cádiz
That said, Koeman will not be taking this lightly at all. Zinedine Zidane was guilty of underestimating Cádiz when Real Madrid welcomed the Andalusians to the Di Stéfano and that did not go at all well for the reigning champions.
However, the last time Cádiz won a home game was against Oviedo last season. Cervera's side have just two points and two goals from five games at the Carranza in 2020-21.
Koeman would probably not have hand-picked tonight's opponents to be sandwiched between two European fixtures, but at least Barcelona don't have to worry about their final Champions League fixture after securing qualification already. Álvaro Cervera's side were tipped to go straight back down after achieving promotion last season but have upset those odds spectacularly to sit in the European places going into this one.

Cádiz vs Barcelona: how and where to watch - times, TV, online
For a more in-depth look at the two squads this evening and a guide to form and also where you can watch this evening's game, look no further than our handy guide.
Koeman has a few injury concerns going into this one, notably at the back. Ansu Fati is a long-term absentee but Gerard Piqué, Samuel Umtiti and Sergi Roberto are out leaving a bit of a hole in defence. Fortunately for Barça, Óscar Mingueza has proven to be quite the find after stepping up from Barça B and Ronald Araújo is also a decent back-up.
In terms of away form, the reading is fairly grim for culés. Barça have not won on the road since their first trip of the campaign and have only scored once in three games since then, in the 1-1 draw at Alavés.
Ronald Koeman's side have been gradually inching up the table after a woeful middle-of-the-start to the campaign, which saw the Camp Nou giants go four games without a win. Atlético carved out a 1-0 win two weeks ago to bother Koeman's apple cart but Barça responded by putting four past Osasuna last time out. That was after a five-goal haul against Betis, but both those wins came at home.
