Kroos goal slams Real Madrid into the lead

Toni Kroos fired Real Madrid into the lead with a fine strike from outside the box on the stroke of half-time in their Tuesday evening match against Athletic Club at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano in Madrid.
Athletic were down to 10 men after 13 minutes when Raúl García was sent off for a second yellow. He was booked early on and made a rash challenge on Kroos from behind, and ended up seeing red. Despite their numerical advantage Madrid were unable to take advantage until right before the break, when Kroos slammed home.
A win for Real Madrid would put them level on points (26) with Atlético Madrid at the top of the table. However Capa levelled for Athletic just after the restart.
