CoD: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Season One: Rebirth Island, weapons and more
Season one of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is available from 16 December on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
With the new updates available for download as of 16 December, CoD players will be able to access a raft of new content in Multiplayer and Battle Royale modes. This is what we can look forward to with the latest additions to the CoD offer.
CoD Warzone: new map, integration of Black Ops Cold War and more
The standout novelty of Call of Duty: Warzone is in its complete integration with the Treyarch game. All the 1980s-era weapons available since March will now co-exist within a single place. You can create custom classes by merging the two universes, including the same model (for example, a modern AK-47 with its predecessor from the 1980s). The same goes for the Operators, with this update arriving a few weeks ago.
While military ranks have been set to a player’s current season level in Black Ops Cold War, player progression in Season One will be synchronized across Black Ops Cold War, Warzone and Modern Warfare, meaning you won’t lose anything by playing any one of the three.
Even if your rank has been reset, you will retain all unlocks you have received up to now. If you are a Cold War player, you will start Season One with the same rank you achieved during preseason. There will be 1,000 new season levels available from the start of Season One upon completion of the Military Ranks.
Also among the Warzone new features is the arrival of the Rebirth Island map, a new Battle Royale experience for up to 40 players that will be playable alongside Verdansk and features the new Resurgence mode.
Two news Gulags have also been introduced in Warzone in Verdansk and Rebirth Island, with the former inspired by the original Nuketown layout and the latter including metal detectors to give the enemy a heads-up as to your location.
Black Ops Cold War Battle Pass
Black Ops Cold War has also received a few upgrades, such as the Battle Pass, which can be used side by side with elements also available in Warzone. Two new weapons are also due to be dropped: the MAC-10 sub-machine gun and the Groza assault rifle, both available for free in the Battle Pass System at Tiers 15 and 31 respectively.
In total, there will be eight multiplayer maps added, three of the for the 6vs6 mode (The Pines, Raid and Nuketown ’84 Holiday), four in Gunfight mode (Game Show, ICBM, U-Bahn and KGB) and another to feature in Combined Arms: Sanatorium later in the season.
There will also be three new Operators introduced in the new season, two of them to arrive in the middle of the season. As of now players will be able to play as Viktor “Stitch” Kuzmin, who can be unlocked at Tier 0 of the Battle Pass.
