Valladolid 0-3 Barcelona: results, goals and summary
Valladolid 0-3 Barcelona: as it happened
And there's the whistle! All over in the José Zorrilla and Barça are up to fifth after a 3-0 win!
Messi! The same post saves Valladolid as the Barça captain drives through and guides a low shot onto the frame of goal!
Braithwaite! The Dane has a chance to add another to his tally but finds the side netting from close range!
Woodwork! Coutinho smacks the post with a rasping effort!
Mesa! A decent hit from just inside the area and it whistles wide! So close from Valladolid, who are refusing to give this one up!
Uffffff, Umtiti is very close to conceding a penalty there as he tangles with Roque Mesa. Had the Valladolid midfielder gone down...
Valladolid are still pushing for a goal and Busquets gets himself into a bit of a pickle but Guardiola fails to take advantage.
Pedri off as Coutinho comes on for the final 10.
Guardiola straight into the thick of the action as he pounces on a mistake by Lenglet but he can't find Weismann on the far side.
Sergi Guardiola on for Javi Sánchez. No relation as far as we know, but he was briefly at Barça B back in 2015.
Joaquín finds his way into the book for a clumsy challenge on Lenglet.
Barça will close the gap on the top four if the result stays the same in Valladolid.

Pedri has had a fantastic game this evening. A senior Spain call-up can't be too far away for the 18-year-old at this rate.
Ter Stegen! What a save to deny Orellana, who was clean through. The German with one hand makes a glorious stop to maintain a clean sheet!
Pjanic goes over a little too easily in the area and looks most affronted as the ref tells him to get up.
Roque Mesa! It's just over but Ter Stegen didn't look too worried. The German had that covered.
De Jong gets a yellow for a challenge on the edge of the area and Valladolid have a chance to pull one back...
Gooooooooooooool! Messi! He gets his strike as Pedri plays a cheeky little ball behind for the Argentinean to run onto in the area. Messi doesn't miss from there and bags Barça's third!
Alba picks up the first booking of the game for clattering into Hervías. The Barça defender apologises as he caught the midfielder in the face and he's temporarily off with a head injury. It remains to be seen if he'll be able to come back on.
Messi! Masip denies the Barça captain again with a fine diving save and he is determined to keep the Argentinean out this evening!
Alcáraz! He'd done all the hard work with a barnstorming run but fires high from the edge of the area.
Corner at the other end now as Messi's shot is blocked. The Argentinean fancies getting on the score sheet here.
Corner for Valladolid now as the home side enjoy a decent spell at the beginning of the second half.
Hervías! He goes for the far stick and it's inches away from sneaking in beyond Ter Stegen's reach!
Dangerous free for Valladolid as Dest floors Toni Villa after the winger made a mug of the US defender with a nutmeg.
Braithwaite! Close from the Dane from Alba's fizzing cross after more good work from Pedri to get Barça breaking quickly on the left.
Messi! The Argentinean throws a boot at the ball after springing the offside trap but the pass is just beyond his reach.
Back underway in the José Zorrilla!
Valladolid have only managed one shot on target from two attempts in the opening 45 minutes. Barcelona have hit the target six times from 10.
And that's the half! Barça two goals to the good at the break and looking like a different side in this new formation.
Messi! Close from the Argentinean who steals into the area from the far side in his trademark style.
The extra man in midfield is giving the Argentinean the freedom to run at the Valladolid back line without having to drop deep in search of the ball. Koeman might be on to something.
Barça are enjoying themselves now and Messi dances across tghe defence to feed Alba, who is hustled off the ball in extremis!
Barça have been excellent so far and it's a long way back from here for Sergio's side.
Goooooooooooool! Braithwaite! What a ball from Messi to Dest and the USA defender pings a cross over the face of goal, taking three defenders out of the game. Braithwaite nicks in ahead of them and only has to get his toe on it to steer it past Masip!
Frenkie de Jong piles into Alcáraz and is perhaps fortunate not to go in the book there.
Braithwaite! The Dane meets Dest's cross and backheels goalwards but it takes a deflection and pops into Masip's gloves. Decent effort from the forward.
Whenever Valladolid do manage to get forward Barça's three central defenders are there to ensure Marcos and Weismann have no options to make an inviting run.
Barça starting to turn the screw and Valladolid are pinned back in their own half at the moment.
Barça's formation is coming up trumps so far. The visitors are moving the ball about crisply and Valladolid are failing to get the ball into their forwards either through the middile or from the wings.
Ouch! Lenglet gets the full force of Jota's boot in his chops but there was no malice, just workplace hazard.
Goooooooooooooool! Lenglet! Messi sends in a teasing cross and the France defender meets it to plant a thumping header into the back of the net!
Masip! What a save from the Valladolid keeper. Pedri feeds Messi and he goes for the top corner but Masip palms it round the post at full stretch!
Jota is looking lively and running at the Barça flanks every chance he gets but so far the Portuguese trickster hasn't managed to find a way through.
Valladolid have a chance to break three on three and Óscar Plano isn't happy as he's bundled to the turf by Lenglet but the ref waves play on.
The game is opening up quite nicely, Valladolid clipping passes about and Barça breaking quickly up the other end. Not much genuine danger for either keeper yet though.
Barça's three cente backs are having a fairly easy time of it against Weismann and Marcos so far. Valladolid are struggling to create anything much up front.
A beautiful back heel from Pedri plays Alba in but he's hustled off the ball. Great work from the youngster.
Ufffff! Messi plays a glorious ball into the area and Pedri picks it up but his first touch shows too much to Masip. Jordi Alba arriving at the far post unmarked isn't too happy.
Messi! The Argentinean hits it first time, catching Masip off guard, and it shaves the post on its way out for a goal kick.
Javi Sánchez gets across well to halt Dest's run. Valladolid go up the other end and Weismann tests Ter Stegen with a decent enough shot from distance.
Alcaráz! It's not a bad hit but whistles past Ter Stegen's post under the watchful eye of the keeper.
Lenglet lucky not to go in the book for a clumsy challenge on Weismann and Valladolid have a dangerous looking free kick...
Jordi Alba, playing as a wing back this evening, claims a foul but largely just to hide his embarrassment as tries to dance away from a defender and backheels the ball out for a throw.
We're off! Barça, in their pink shirts, get the ball rolling!
Teams in the tunnel and we're about to get underway at the José Zorrilla!
Three centre backs seems to be the ploy from the Barça boss. Strange, as he has previously said he would not be diverting from his preferred 4-2-3-1. Let's see how it pans out for the visitors.
And Koeman's XI to try and find that elusive away win...

Can Koeman's side end their run of away form this evening? Just one win on the road all season so far is not a record that will be endearing the Dutchman to his employers...
Valladolid starting XI confirmed
Joaquín Fernández has passed a late fitness test and will start at the back with Marcos André and Shon Weismann leading the line for the home side.
Barcelona starting XI confirmed
Koeman has elected to give Lenglet a leg-stretch after all but Mingueza and Araújo both start... curious. We will have to wait and see what the Barça boss has up his sleeve here. Messi and Braithwaite start up top but Griezmann will have to make do with the bench.
Messi third most-used player in Europe's 'Big Five'
It also remains to be seen if Koeman will continue to use Leo Messi every week with the games coming thick and fast. The sensation is that with Ansu Fati out for the medium term the Barça boss feels he hasn't got another match-winner on the books, and recent evidence suggests he is correct although Frenkie de Jong and Jordi Alba were on target in the 2-1 win over Real Sociedad.
Koeman has been forced to use Óscar Mingueza and Ronald Araújo more than the Barça boss probably would have liked with Gerard Piqué out and Clément Lenglet has been surprisingly dropped to the bench for the last two Liga outings against Real Sociedad and Valencia.
Valladolid vs Barcelona: how and where to watch - times, TV, online
In the last four games between these sides, the score has been 1-0 after the 90 minutes in Barcelona's favour.
The home side will fancy their chances this evening as well. Barcelona have only won once away from home this season and that was on 1 October against Celta in 2020 BC - before Coudet. Since then Koeman's side have been beaten by Cádiz, Getafe and Atlético and managed a point away at Alavés.
That said, only three points separate 18th from 10th in LaLiga at the moment so if Valladolid continue on the same track they are quite capable of getting out of the mire and into midtable.
Valladolid were in serious trouble until recently. Sergio failed to engineer a victory in La Pucela's first eight Liga games but the club has kept the faith with the coach who guided them up to Primera at the tail end of the 2017-18 season and has kept them there since. A haul of 11 points in their last six games has dragged Valladolid off the bottom but they are still very much embroiled in a relegation battle.

Barça have started to climb the table after a woeful start to the season and are now in the top six, albeit still some way off off Atlético and eight points adrift of the eternal rival. However, Koeman's side do have a game in hand on the reigning champions.

It should be an entertaining game this evening with both sides in something approaching form going into the match. Valladolid have lost just once in their last six outings under Sergio while Barça's mini-revival has seen Ronald Koeman's side take seven points from nine available after a 2-2 draw with Valencia at Camp Nou at the weekend.
