After much doubt surrounding tonight's FA Cup tie, the Birmingham club confirmed earlier on Friday that the game will go ahead.
Villa confirmed the fixture will take place on Friday night despite members of their players and staff testing positive for coronavirus. A "large number" of Villa's first-team players have tested positive for covid-19 this week, which initially put the cup tie with the Merseysiders in doubt.
The midlands club were forced to close their Bodymoor Heath training ground on Thursday owing to the outbreak, and there had been concerns they would have to forfeit their match against the Reds.
"Aston Villa can confirm that the club has closed its Bodymoor Heath training ground after a significant coronavirus outbreak," a club statement said.
"A large number of first team players and staff returned positive tests after being routinely tested on Monday and immediately went into isolation.
"A second round of testing was carried out immediately and produced more positive results today. First team training ahead of tomorrow's FA Cup match with Liverpool was cancelled. Discussions are ongoing between medical representatives of the club, the Football Association and the Premier League."
