Club World Cup important milestone for Qatar
At a virtual meeting of the Board of Directors of FIFA Qatar 2022, recent achievements and plans in the Qatari preparations for the 2022 World Cup were reviewed.
The completion of four World Cup stadiums as well as the most important milestones in the Qatari preparations for the 2022 World Cup were some of the topics discussed at the virtual meeting of the Board of Directors of FIFA Qatar 2022. Plans for the preparations for the FIFA 2021 Arab Cup were also reviewed.
Hassan Al Thawadi, president of the FIFA Qatar 2022 tournament and general secretary of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), is responsible for managing the Qatar 2022 projects. He welcomed everyone to the meeting, discussing the success of the recent Club World Cup, despite emerging challenges.
Club World Cup success
"Despite the current challenges that everyone is facing, we are proud of how the work for the 2022 World Cup is progressing, as well as our distinguished success in hosting the Club World Cup, which drew the attention of the world soccer community," Al Thawadi said.
"This success is remarkable evidence of our continued effort to provide an extraordinary version of the event [World Cup] in the Middle East in two years' time."
Nasser Al Khater, Executive President of the FIFA Qatar 2022 event, confirmed the interest of the tournament organisers to provide the best experience for fans, as well as to focus on improving the operational plans of the tournament.
Important milestone
Al Khater said: "The Club World Cup marked an important milestone in the testing of operational processes, keeping everyone safe due to the Medical Bubble system, and complying with the strict rules of health protocols."
"Many important milestones await us this year, such as the FIFA 2021 Arab Cup, which is expected to provide a distinctive experience for all teams and fans," he added.
