Following his successful spell playing in the K League, especially at Ulsan Hyundai where he scored 35 goals in all competitions and won the AFC champions league title last season, Brazilian striker Júnior Negrão has joined newly-promoted Chinese club Changchun Yatai. He had been without a club since announcing his departure from the ACL champions.

Negrão was instrumental in Ulsan Hyundai's ACL title win as he finished the campaign level with Al Nassr's Abderrazak Hamdallah with both players having scored seven goals throughout the competition. The Brazilian marksman netted twice in the title decider against Persepolis leading the team to a historic coronation.

However, a few weeks later, the 34-year-old announced that he decided to part ways with the club after a spell that lasted for almost four years, before announcing his move to the Chinese Super League side on Social media.

Negrão's signing strengthens the top flight returnees. Changchun Yatai won the Super League title in 2007 with another Brazilian player, Erik, who won the J1 league title with Yokohama F. Marinos in 2019. Changchun Yatai are hoping to make an impressive come back to the Chinese top tier.

Changchun were the success story of the shortened 2020 China League One season, topping Group C as well as the six-team final stage to return to the top table of Chinese football following their relegation in 2018.
