President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden brought dogs back to the White House after a four-year absence.Joining them shortly after the inauguration were there two German shephards, Champ and Major.

However, for the time being the two German Shepherds have been returned to the Biden's family home in Delaware after what CNN described as a "biting" incident involving Major Biden at the White House.

Who are Major and Champ Biden?

The Biden’s adopted Major in November 2018 to help put some bounce back in the step of the older Champ, who was about 11 at the time and beginning to slow down. The Biden’s adopted Major, now a three-year-old, from a Wilmington, Delaware animal shelter from a litter of six that had been abandoned. It isn’t the first time Major has caused an incident, back in November President Biden suffered a hairline fracture in his foot when he fell while roughhousing with Major at his Delaware home.

What did Major do?

Last week there was an aggressive incident at the White House according to CNN sources familiar with what happened. Although neither the exact nature of the incident nor the condition of the victim has been disclosed, both Major and Champ were returned to the Biden’s Delaware residence. Major has had other run-ins with staff and security on a number of occasions with sources saying Major “has been known to display agitated behavior, including jumping, barking, and ‘charging’ at staff and security.”

The Biden’s have been trying to settle the dogs into the White House

The agitated behavior may be in part due to the new surroundings. Jill Biden during an interview with Kelly Clarkson said that the life at the White House is quite different from their Delaware residence. "They have to take the elevator, they're not used to that,” she said, adding “they have to go out on the South Lawn with lots of people watching them."
