Real Madrid team news: Fede Valverde out of Getafe game due to coronavius contact
Real Madrid has confirmed that Fede Valverde will miss the Getafe game after being in direct contact with a Covid-19 case. The Uruguayan joins Ramos and Varane in isolation.
Fede Valverde has become the third Real Madrid player currently in isolation due to the coronavirus and will now miss Los Blancos’ LaLiga clash with Getafe on Sunday, as the absentee list continues to grow for coach Zinedine Zidane.
The club has confirmed in a statement published on its website that the Uruguayan midfielder is now in quarantine after having been in direct contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid-19. Although the player himself has tested negative in all tests that he has undergone.
Valverde has now joined Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane in isolation. The Madrid captain tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week, while his French central defensive partner was diagnosed with coronavirus last week.
All three will miss the crucial Getafe game this Sunday as Madrid look to keep the pressure on leaders Atlético Madrid by securing three vital points against their other neighborly rivals.
Zidane’s injury woes ahead of Real Madrid-Getafe
The absences due to injury and Covid-19 are relentlessly piling up for Zidane, who will have to face Getafe with a very depleted-looking defense.
Aside from Varane and Ramos, left back Ferland Mendy will also miss the game after it was confirmed on Saturday that the Frenchman had picked up a knock to the sole of his foot. So too will Nacho, who has recently made up the central defensive pairing with Eder Militao in the absence of Ramos and Varane.
Right back Dani Carvajal is also injured and the two men that have recently filled in for the Spaniard, Lucas Vazquez and Fede Valverde, have since joined the list of casualties.
Amid the dire situation, Zidane will line out with Eder Militao in the center of defense, with Castilla reserve team player Victor Chust likely to be cast into the starting XI alongside him. Meanwhile, Marcelo and Álvaro Odriozola are set to occupy the full back positions in the absence of Carvajal, Mendy, Valverde and Lucas Vazquez.
