Casillas recalls Mourinho's famous "Why?" press conference
In #Vamos' new documentary about El Clásicos, Iker Casillas looked back at Jose Mourinho's famous press conference after the April 2011 clash.
Iker Casillas has said he couldn't have agreed more with Jose Mourinho's sentiments following the infamous Champions League semi-final first leg between Real Madrid and Barcelona in April 2011. Madrid had Pepe sent off and Mourinho was ordered to the stands for sarcastically applauding the fourth official in the 0-2 defeat. He was subsequently hit with a five-game ban by UEFA.
Mourinho: ¿Por qué?
Afterwards, in his post-match press conference, the Portuguese coach explained, "If I tell the ref and UEFA what I really think and how I feel, my managerial career would end today. I only have one question, to which I hope one day to find the answer. Why? Why? Why [Tom Henning] Ovrebo]? why [Frank] de Bleeckere? why [Massimo] Busacca? why [Wolfgang] Stark? Why? Because in every semi-final, the same thing happens..."
A decade on, Casillas took part in a new documentary produced by #Vamos (Movistar+), Guerra de Clásicos which looks back at those meetings . "If you were to ask me if I agree with Mourinho, I'd say 100% - in fact 200%" the former Madrid goalkeeper explained.
