Morocco asks to host CAF Champions League final
Morocco announced that Mohamed V Stadium is one of the venues nominated to host the CAF champions league final game.
The Moroccan football Federation announced in an official statement that they submitted a request to host the final game of the ongoing CAF champions league at Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, while they nominated Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium to be the venue for this year's CAF Confederation Cup final, the same stadium that hosted last year's finale where RS Berkane beat Pyramids of Egypt to the trophy.
The Moroccan Federation earlier unveiled their intention to request to host both finals of the two most important African interclub competitions.
The statement also explained that Oujda and Berkane stadiums have been selected to host Women CAF Champions League games to be organized by Morocco next November.
Wydad is Morocco’s representative in knock out stages
CAF Champions League tournament has reached its quarter-finals as the eight qualified teams have been completed on the group stage the last matchday and they are as follows:
Al Ahly of Egypt- Tanzanian Simba SC- Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa- Algerian CR Belouizdad- Moroccan Wydad Casablanca- Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa-Tunisian Espererance Sportive- Algerian MC Alger.
Meanwhile, the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup is set to end on 28 April to determine the eight quarter-finalists.
Last year's CAF Champions League final was held at Cairo International stadium when the record nine-time title winners Al-Ahly defeated their city rivals Zamalek in a historic showdown in the Egyptian capital.
