Militão! What a chance to get on the score sheet but the defender fires wide from a couple of yards out!
Miguel and Akapo are both down in a heap after a nasty collision. The Cádiz played goes in the book.
Two minutes added.
Madrid in no major hurry to play the ball out of their own half now.
Rodrygo! The Brazilian picks up a ball from Asensio and flashes a shot just wide of Ledesma's far post.
Cádiz haven't created much this evening but that rather sums up their lack of fortune as well. Saponjić is almost through on Courtois but the ball hits the Serbian, ricochets off Militão and falls just out of the striker's reach.
Madrid happy to stroke it about now with the game more or less beyond Cádiz and Benzema's hat-trick no longer a possibility.
Mariano! The striker rounds the keeper and appears to have done all the hard work but fires wide from a tight angle. The flag was up anyway but he does have a habit of scoring seconds after coming on.
More changes for Madrid. Miguel Gutiérrez gets his first game of the season and Mariano is also on as Benzema and Marcelo make way.
Carvajal finds Benzema in the area with a decent cross but the Frenchman's header is straight into the paws of Ledesma.
Marcelo finds his way into the book for a trip on Akapo, who was almost away down the right.
Ledesma! A fine stop from the Cádiz keeper, as Marcelo sought to square for Benzema who would have had a tap-in for his hat-trick.
Madrid are extremely comfortable at the moment, despite a lengthy injury list and the substitutions.
Change for Madrid: Varane, Odriozola and Vinicius make way for Carvajal, Asensio and Isco.
Odriozola drives into the area to pick up a ball from Benzema and goes to ground under the lightest of touches but the ref is having none of that.
Jairo delivers and Juan Cala gets a head on it but it drops onto the roof of Courtois' net. A quiet evening for the Madrid stopper so far.
Corner for Cádiz...
Asensio, Carvajal and Isco warming up for Madrid.
Benzema takes and clears the wall but he also clears the bar.
Very dangerous free kick for Madrid right on the edge of the area as Cala floors Rodrygo...
It looks as though the Brazilian will be ok to continue after all.
It looks as though Zidane may be forced to look at his bench now though as Rodrygo goes down clutching his thigh.
Saponjić! The sub tries an overhead in the area but doesn't really catch it and it's bread and butter for Courtois.
And we're back underway! No changes for Madrid at the moment.
Four changes for the home side ahead of the second half: IvanSaponjić, Juan Cala, Anthony Lozano and Carlos Akapo on for Cádiz.
The Brazilian's effort whistles over the bar and that's the half!
Madrid will have another chance before the break with Rodrygo over a free kick about 30 yards out.
One minute added. It's going to feel like more than that for Cádiz, who are clinging on by their fingertips.
José Mari goes in the book for a crunching tackle on Vinicius.
Cádiz come forward but Marcelo pulls off some last-ditch futsal defending to clear the danger.
Two goals and an assist for Benzema in 10 minutes.
Goooooooooool! And there is the third! Benzema is waiting in the six yard box as Casemiro lands a cross on the Frenchman's head to touch home from close range.
Casemiro! The Brazilian clips a shot over the bar from close range after a lovely cushioned ball from Benzema. Cádiz are on the ropes at the back and Madrid want to put this to bed before half time.
That's 11 goals scored from 11 penalties in LaLiga for Karim Benzema.
Cádiz have barely had time to regroup after the penalty as Benzema stands a glorious cross up at the far post for the right back to nod home unmarked!
Gooooooooooool! Benzema hits it hard to Ledesma's left. The keeper guesses correctly but can't stop it going in the bottom corner!
And it's a penalty! Jairo is adjudged to have tripped the Brazilian and Mateu Lahoz points to the spot!
It's not a great delivery though and Courtois claims easily.
Corner for Cádiz now as Odriozola cuts out a cross with Jairo lurking.
Rodrygo charges down the right and leaves Jairo in his wake but overruns it. The Brazilian claims he was held back by the Cádiz winger but Mateu Lahoz waves his protests away.
Varane goes in the book for blocking Ledesma's clearance. Rather silly yellow for the Madrid defender at this stage of the game.
Marcelo and Rodrygo combine nicely in the area and the youngster's shot is deflected behind for a corner.
Benzema is back to defend though and heads it clear at the near post. No clear cut chances for either side as we approach the 20-minute mark.
Salvi manages to get his foot to a ball from deep and it pings off Varane for a Cádiz corner.
Militão! Marcelo whips in a lovely free klck and his compatriot meets it but can't guide his header on target from close range.
Madrid with most of the ball so far but Cádiz are playing very direct when they do manage to get their foot on it.
Jairo! The winger cuts in from the left and hits a decent enough shot but it's straight at Courtois and the Belgian gathers with little fuss.
Varane gets a head to it but it falls to Iza and the defender hammers a fierce shot towards goal. It's blocked though and Vinicius is floored on the break.
Free kick to Cádiz on the right after a Nacho foul...
Jønsson! Cádiz carve through Madrid's makeshift defence and the Dane smashes a shot wide from inside the area.
An early touch for Blanco and the youngster's shot is deflected behing for a corner.
We're off! Real Madrid get the ball rolling...
Cádiz's players are wearing shirts that say "Super League? Football is for the fans." We wait to see if Madrid are sporting something similiar...
And this is how Zidane has lined up his depleted side for the trip to the Ramón de Carranza. Three at the back with Odriozola and Marcelo in a midfield four...

Real Madrid caught napping as Lozano seals historic win for Cádiz
Cádiz looking for Liga double over Madrid
Cervera's side pulled off a classic smash-and-grab last time the two teams met.
Cádiz starting XI confirmed
Álvaro Negredo will get a pop at his former club this evening as Cervera names a fairly attacking line-up with Sobrino, Salvi and Jairo also in the XI.
Real Madrid starting XI confirmed
Zidane has handed a start to Castilla midfielder Antonio Blanco in the absence of Kroos and Modric, with Marcelo also starting in what we assume will be a midfield role as Nacho and Odriozola also get the nod.
Madrid will be without Eden Hazard again this evening, the Belgian not having featured since March 13 due to a calf injury. The €100million winger has played just 646 minutes across 14 games in all competitions this season, scoring with three of his 14 shots and creating six chances and a single assist.
Zidane on Madrid's title chances
"We've been here eight months and [people say] it's all over. I was on the street, the players were worthless... And that's never the case. The important thing is that there is life. We're competing, which is what we like, and we're going to compete until the last day.
"Whatever happens, we're going to compete until the last day. I don't know if we're going to win, but we're going to put all the strength in it."
A little point of interest for stats fans this evening: not since 2006 have Real Madrid played out three consecutive 0-0 draws. After two against Liverpool and Getafe, Zidane will be hoping his side can rediscover their touch in front of goal this evening.
Madrid, meanwhile, haven’t lost an away game in LaLiga since a 4-1 pummelling at Valencia back on November 8. That was the only game Zidane’s side have lost on the road this season, winning nine and drawing six of the other 15.
The hosts meanwhile have been in decent form of late and have lifted themselves clear of the danger zone as Álvaro Cervera’s side look to finish the season strongly in mid-table. Cádiz have won three and drawn two of their last six and, lest it be forgotten, beat Madrid 1-0 in the reverse fixture at the Alfredo Di Stéfano earlier in the season.

Madrid are currently in second place in the table and will pull level with Atlético on 70 points if the visitors are victorious in Andalusia. Sevilla’s win earlier against Levante has lifted Julen Lopetegui’s side level with Zidane’s men pending the result in Cádiz.
