AFC Champions League (West) group stage impressive stats

Following the completion of the ACL group stage for the west region, the AFC official website highlighted some of the eye-catching stats achieved by some of the players.

AFC's official website shed some light on noticeable numbers and stats achieved by the players in the first round of the AFC Champions League (west) after each team completed its group stage six fixtures.

Al Duhail's Michael Olunga is leading the scoring charts having delivered magnificently throughout the group stage, netting nine goals in six games, although his side were eliminated after their 1-1 draw with Al Ahli Saudi  in the final round when he missed a crucial penalty. Esteghlal Cheick Diabate came in second place with 5 goals.

Perspolis Mahdi Torabi has been in great form for his side during the group stage creating the most chances in the competition so far (20). Al Duhail's Edmilson Junior and Al Moez Ali come second and third having created 19 and 17 chances respectively.

At the defensive level, FC Istiklol's Ukrainian duo Oleksiy Larin and Andriy Mishchenko have proved to be one of the most successful partnerships of the tournament having made 44 and 43 clearances respectively, while their nearest rival was Goa's James Donachie on 30.

Successful passes

In terms of ball possession and build-up, Al Hilal dominate that area as the four players with the most successful passes all belong to the Saudi side's ranks and the list goes as follows:

1. Mohamed Kanno – 487
2. Abdullah Otayf – 459
3. Jang Hyun-soo – 393
4. Ali Albulayhi – 384

FC Goa's promising goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh earned praise from everyone who watched him deliver an impressive performance on his tournament debut. The young shot-stopper is leading the charts with 26 saves made during the group stage, 2 saves more than Al Ahli Saudi's  Mohammed Al Owais. Al Shorta's Ahmed Basil came third on 19 saves.

Dribbles completed

Al Rayyan's Yacine Brahimi has is by far topping the list of most dribbles completed as he pulled off 30 successful dribbles whereas his closest chaser Al Wahda's  Khalil Ibrahim managed to complete 15 dribbles.
