Real Madrid believe Zidane is staying on

None of the representatives of the three possible replacements, Allegri, Löw and Raúl, have received a call about taking over at Madrid.

"I'm going to make it easy for the club. Madrid has given me everything". This was Zidane's forceful reflection when he was asked again whether he would return to the dugout for next season. Before that, he had answered the question vaguely: "We'll see about that...". But the truth is that Zidane has a contract until 2022 and that, what he has done this season with a squad affected by the coronavirus crisis also deserves praise.

Real Madrid not in discussions with other coaches

AS understands that Real Madrid have not opened talks with any potential replacements for Zidane. The club have not spoken to Allegri, nor to Real Madrid Castilla manager and former player Raúl about the possibility of taking over. Joachim Löw's agent has not received a call from Los Blancos regarding a future role at the club. Löw will leave Germany after the European Championship next month and has not received any calls either. Madrid have full confidence in Zidane.

"If a club like Real Madrid thought about changing coaches or the possibility of a move, they would have already prepared a couple of possibilities to cover their backs," one of the agents of the aforementioned coaches told this newspaper. In the case of Allegri, he is very close to taking over at one of Europe's top teams.

Raúl ideal future replacement

Raúl is still in charge of Castilla. He is the ideal option for Real Madrid when Zidane's time is over. He is a coach with the same style as Zidane: he knows how to manage the dressing room, deal with the media and has total respect from the staff as a legend of Madrid. That was Zidane's formula for success.

The French coach will have to sit down and talk to Real Madrid when the season is over. But having reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, in the midst of another LaLiga title chase, he'll be fully focused on the job at hand. It appears that the 48-year-old is eager to continue, to take charge of an exciting new project, where there will be a small revolution to look forward to, presumably, with the signing of Mbappé or, if not possible, with that of Haaland.
