Serge Aurier is on the look-out for a new club. The Tottenham right-back will be out of contract in 2022 and is considering his future. The Ivorian defender arrived in London in 2017, signing from PSG, and feels that his time at Tottenham is coming to an end. The team has no chance of qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League and don't even know who the new coach will be nor whether star players like Harry Kane will leave over the summer. According to FootMercato, he is thinking about the next step in his career which could mean a move away from the English capital.

Aurier, potential reunion with Pochettino

FootMercato claim that the player's agents have been in contact with PSG during recent weeks. It was Mauricio Pochettino, his old boss at Spurs between 2017 and 2019, who has personally expressed that the should make an attempt to return to Paris. Aurier was at the club from 2014 until his departure in 2017. His price, it is reported in France, would be around 12 million euros.

However, FootMercato add that Real Madrid have entered the fray. The Spanish champions are keen to reinforce the right-back position where they have Dani Carvajal currently out injured, and have asked about Aurier's situation. At 12 million euros, the Ivorian full-back would be within Madrid's budget but as of the moment, the Spanish club are just keen to see how the land lies although it would be an interesting option for them.

Aurier has spoken to Raphael Varane, his old team mate at Lens, to gain information about the club and life in the city - curiously, just as Varane's own future is up in the air. The right-back is open to the possibility of playing at the Bernabéu and Madrid's coaching staff would be interested in having a defender like Aurier who is able to adapt to system of two or three centre-backs.
