Frankfurt want Jovic as Real Madrid eye German club's star striker Silva

The Bundesliga outfit would look favorably on a swap between Luka Jovic and André Silva, depending on how much Real Madrid are willing to pay for the latter.

Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to offload star striker André Silva and have set a price tag of €40 million on the 24-year-old, who provided an incredible 29 goals and 10 assists in 34 games last season.

With the money generated from the sale of the Portuguese forward, Frankfurt plan to make Real Madrid an offer for their former player, Luka Jovic. Following his €60 million move to Madrid in 2019, Jovic returned to Frankfurt on loan in January.

The 23-year-old Serbian striker started brilliantly, scoring three goals in his first two moments of play. But this brilliance didn’t last long, with Jovic managing just one more goal to bring his total tally to four goals in 18 games.

Jovic asked Madrid for a loan assignment in January as he had barely had any minutes under Zidane. His friend Filip Kostic convinced him to return to his old team where he played from 2017 to 2019. And it was precisely Kostic himself who served up Jovic’s first two goals upon his return. For his part, Kostic, who has been enjoying a good run of form over the past few months, is being offered to other clubs by his agent.

Moment of transition for Frankfurt

Frankfurt are currently going through a delicate situation with big changes at the top: its president, Fredi Bobic, is leaving office, while coach Adi Hütter has already been appointed as the next coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The Bundesgliga outfit would look favourably on a swap between Jovic and Silva, depending on how much Real Madrid are willing to pay for the latter.

Real Madrid interested in Silva

The Portuguese striker has already sent signals that he is looking to leave the Bavarian club, with Madrid, Atlético and Manchester United all understood to be interested. “I have found myself here at Eintracht. And I showed what I can really do. I will always be grateful to the club, the staff and the team for that,” he recently wrote on social media.

But there are two situations that could serve as impediment to any Frankfurt attempt to sign Jovic. Firstly, on Saturday, in Frankfurt’s last match of the season, despite substitute Jovic being sent to warm up, he was not summoned to come on the pitch. Apparently, such were his frustrations that he left before Bobic went to the dressing room to thank the players for their efforts this season, as well as to say goodbye to the coach and the players set to leave at the end of the season, according to a report by Kicker.

Second is the departure of Hütter as well as the possible departure of Kostic, two of his greatest allies in the Frankfurt dressing room. As of July, Jovic is set to return to work at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground. The Serbian has a contract with Madrid until 2025, but his immediate future at the club remains up in the air.
