Real Madrid

Who are the possible replacements for Real Madrid´s head coach Zidane?

Update:
Who are the possible replacements for Real Madrid´s head coach Zidane?

Former Real Madrid player, Zinedine Zidane, is reportedly resigning as head coach of Real Madrid. Real Madrid had a tough run this season; the team was dethroned by Atletico last Saturday, who earned the La Liga title. After weeks of rumors swirling, it has been reported that Zidane is certain to step down.

Who will replace Zidane as manager of Real Madrid?

President Florentino Pérez wants solutions, although questions have arisen as to whether Zindane will immediately resign or will finish out his contract which ends in 2022.

There are many names in the cards regarding who will take over, one of whom is legendary Real Madrid player, Raúl Gonzalez. This would not be the first time Real Madrid pulls the coach of Castilla, as was the case with Zidane in 2016.

Among the top candidates to substitute Zindane is the former manager of Juventus, Massimiliano Allegri. His success with both Juventus and Milan proves his strong candidacy.

Mauricio Pochettino has been relevant in the replacement conversation, though as the current head coach of League 1 Paris Saint-Germain, it is less likely he will be chosen.

Additional candidates to substitute Zidane:

  • Antonio Conte
  • Xabi Alonso
  • Joachim Low
  • Jose Mourinho
  • Marcello Gallardo

Zidane navigated the Real Madrid team through many obstacles in the past year, including injuries and the toll of the pandemic. He has been praised for his success as a manger, leading one of the biggest clubs in the soccer world. The front-runner currently remains unclear, but what is certain is that Zidane’s replacement will have big shoes to fill.
