The United States Men’s national team defeated Costa Rica 4-0 in their last exhibition match prior to the start of the group stage of the Gold Cup next month. This was their first game since overcoming Mexico 3-2 in the final of the CONCACAF Nations League last weekend and Greg Berhalter's men were keen to maintain a winning streak.

Four different goal scorers for the USMNT

The United States boss Gregg Berhalter made some changes in the starting lineup for the friendly game against Costa Rica to rest some of the players that went the full 120 minutes on Sunday against ‘El Tri.’ Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie saw how four different goal scorers gave the USMNT the victory at the Rio Tinto stadium.

Brenden Aaronson scored the first one of the night in the 8th minute of the match. Sebastian Lletget gave a pass in between the lines to Anthony Robinson, who crossed the ball and Aaronson rifled it to find the back of the net.

Daryl Dike would make a great run to stay onside and an even better finish to make it 2-0 before half. This was his first goal in his first appearance for the United States Men’s national team for the Orlando City SC striker. In the second half Reggie Cannon also made his scoring debut with the USMNT and made it 3-0 in the 52 minute.

Gio Reyna scored in back-to-back games

Late in the second half, Berhlater decided to bring in Gio Reyna and he made the difference immediately. The Borussia Dortmund playmaker was tackled inside the box and the referee gave a penalty in favor of the US. Reyna would be in charge of taking it and made it 4-0 and he became the youngest American to score from the penalty spot.

Now the United States Men’s national team will take a break before the Gold Cup starts in July. The team coached by Gregg Berhalter is in group B and their first game will be on 11 July with a team to be determined.
