When does In The Heights come out and how can I watch it?
In the Heights hit theaters on 11 June, and so far, has not been the box office sensation many had predicted.
In the Heights, the Hollywood movie, based on Lin Manuel Miranda’s Broadway musical with the same name hit theaters on 11 June. The movie is currently playing in over three thousand theaters around the country and can also be streamed through HBO Max.
The film first premiered at Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival on 4 June, a year after its initial release date. Film executives had projected that in its first four days in theaters the film would bring in around 20 million dollars in revenue. In reality, those projections may have been overly optimistic about the willingness of those in the US to visit the movies with the film only bringing in around 11 million dollars. Data on how many people have streamed the film on HBO has not been released.
In the Heights, shares two cast members with Miranda’s historical global hit, Hamilton. Fans can expect to see Anthony Ramos who played Philip Hamilton, as Usnavi de la Vega, the lead of In the Heights. Additionally, Christopher Jackson, who played George Washington will also make an appearance.

What have the critics said?
The film stands on a strong foundation, as the musical won four Tony awards after its release on Broadway including, Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestrations. With 236 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a score of 97% showing the critics and viewers enjoyed it. Ty Burr of the Boston Globe described the new film “Like a cool lemon ice on a blistering summer day, "In the Heights" feels like a reward.” Seattle Times critic, Moira MacDonald gave the movie full marks saying “Maybe I didn't exactly dance down the aisle on my way out of the theater, but rest assured that I did so in my heart.
