Czech Republic 0-1 England: Euro 2020

So, we'll live our live coverage here on a night where England advance and are joined by the Czech Republic and Croatia who progress to the next stage of Euro 2020.

Thanks for reading !

D

Final Group D table

There's the whistle. England win and top the group. The Czech's advance too and finish third. It's also all over in Glasgow and Croatia have secured a 1-3 win to finish second in the group.

Last minute... no urgency from the Czech side as we drift towards the final whistle.

3 minutes of time to be added.

90

Into the final minute of normal time and it's the Scots who will be the only Group D side excluded from advancing at Euro 2020. England have delivered a solid and professional display with Saka and Grealish excellent in the first 45'. Have been disappointed with the Czech Republic side and can't see them progressing past the next hurdle.

89

Bellingham showing nice touches and eager to impress with his few minutes. Certainly sensed there were a few grumbles from the Wembley crowd when Grealish was subbed though.

Gooooooool England score but the flag is up... Henderson it was who slotted home but indeed, the Liverpool man was well offside.

The contest has lacked a degree of intensity in the second half, understandably possibly with both sides aware that they had progressed before a ball was kicked. It's been far from a classic in this second 45' it has to be said!

Holes off too for Vydra

Sancho on for Saka

England will face second in Group F ... Portugal, Germany or possibly France at Wembley though!

The Czechs now face a wait to find out where the will play next should they finish the group in third. Croatia will face the second placed side from Group E in Copenhagen next Tuesday and that could be Slovakia, Poland, Spain or Sweden.

Jadon Sancho warming up on the Wembley touchline....

Stones is replaced by Mings

D

and now Croatia leapfrog the Czech Repulbic and move to second....

Heartbreak in Glasgow for Scotland as Croatia score a third.

Scotland 1-3 Croatia

Schick off and Pekhart replaces the Leverkusen striker.

75

England win their first corner of the half as Shaw delivers. 15 left for England to hand on and it's now the men in white who look the likelier to add to their lead.

Another goal in either game could amend the 2nd/3rd place order in Group D....

70

Twenty minutes remain in Wembley and it's still Rahim Sterling's 12th minute goal that separate the sides.

Scotland face a major uphill battle to advance in Glasgow and need to score twice and keep the 2018 World Cup finalists at bay....

Sterling replaced by Rashford as Southgate makes another switch. Bellingham on too and he replaces Grealish.

More changes for the Czech side: Darida off for Alex Kral and Masopust is replaced by Adam Hlozek

D

Live table: Group D

Fine strike from the Real Madrid with the trademark 'outside of the boot' effort to fire the Balkan side ahead.

Modric scores for Croatia!

First card of the night is awarded to Boril as he clips Saka.

Approaching the hour mark in both London and Glasgow and as things stand, both Croatia and Scotland will bid farewell to Euro 2020 with the game tied at 1-1. England would top Group D and the Czech side would also advance in second place. Somewhat dramatic for the 2018 World Cup finalists should Modric and co exit.

Philips pulls Darida and once again is lucky to escape being carded by the Portuguese match official.

57

Both Grealish and Saka have yet to get going in the second half with the game somewhat in a lull. The Czechs are slowly starting to secure a foothold in the game as a wave of lethargy sweeps over England.

Both sides enjoying spells of dominance in the opening minutes of the half but neither keeper called into action. Have been very disappointed by Patrik Schick tonight. Very little from the Leverkusen striker!

49

Henderson dinks a fine ball thorough to Kane but the Tottenham striker just fails to control ... England fans rally behind their side.

Darida clipped by Saka and the teenager is lucky not to be carded for the late challenge.

Off we go for the second 45' at Wembley. England start the action.

...and Henderson is on for Rice

Sevcic on for the Sampdoria player Jankto.

Jordan Henderson pulling on the white shirt and seems poised for an entrance.

England and Czech Republic 45 minutes away from advancing and establishing who comes first and second. Tomorrow we learn who their respective rivals will be in the Round of 16 with the conclusion of Groups E and F. Both groups very much alive with all eight teams having options heading into the final match-day.

The whistle sounds at Wembley and the players head to the dressing room. England currently sitting on top of Group D.

45

Into the final minute of action here at Wembley. England decent value for their 1-0 lead despite bright spells from the Czechs. Saka and Grealish have been excellent for England.

D

Live Group D table

1-1 in Glasgow and Scotland are given a lifeline just before the break.

Scotland score !

40

A quiet evening to date from Patrik Schick with the current joint top Euro 2020 scorer having a discreet first 40 minutes.

37

Great work from England as Saka breaks, finds Grealish and the Villa player sends Shaw through but only for the defender to see the Czech keeper save well.  Once again, Saka instrumental in the fine counter from Southgate's side.

36

Soucek goes close as his right foot effort zips just wide of the post.

An England win would see a tricky Round of 16 tie but importantly it would see Southgate's side stay in Wembley.

Fans of Finland and Ukraine will be desperately hoping for a Scotland goal which would then throw both national sides a glimmer of hope of progressing to the Round of 16 as a best placed third side.

England seemed to have dropped a little deeper and it certainly appears that the Czechs have grown in confidence as we cross the 30 minute mark.

29

A scramble in the England box and the ball is eventually clocked and cleared by Stones. Better now from the Central European men as they look to draw level.

Vaclik recently departed from Sevilla and rumoured to be heading to the Turkish SuperLig. Has certainly been one of the best keepers at Euro 2020. Talking of keepers, Pickford does well to save after a fine strike from Holes.

26

Kane does well and a strong hand from Vaclik denies the Spurs striker.

Saka has also been a standout for England with the teenager instrumental in most of the positive play for the side in white.

24

Jack Grealish has looked lively this evening. Southgate will be happy with the decision to play the Villa man who was hugely instrumental in the opening goal with a fine assist for Sterling.

20

Kane almost slips through on goal but a vital interception from Kalas saves the day for the Central European side.

Second place in Group D would mean a Round of 16 game in Copenhagen against the second placed side from Group E which could be Sweden, Spain, Slovakia or Poland.

The Czech Republic could slip into third position should Croatia add to their tally in Glasgow.

Group D

This is how the live Group D table looks:

Croatia take the lead in Glasgow!

England still yet to concede at Euro 2020. Italy and Sweden the other sides yet to ship any goals at the tournament to date.

How will the Czechs respond? It's been a lackluster opening from the men in red so far tonight.

Sterling nods England ahead ... Great assist from Jack Grealish as the Man City man bags his second Euro 2020 goal

10

Ten minutes gone in both games and still nothing troubling any scoreboard. England and Cz. Republic will advance, Scotland and Croatia will say goodbye to Euro 2020 should things stay the same

Free kick for England after Kane takes an elbow to the cheek... A tame header from the resulting freekick but no threat on the Czech goal.

8

The Czechs finally getting to work the ball around after total domination from the 'Three Lions'

4

Domination from England in the opening minutes here at Wembley. Kane drifting deeper despite Southgate anxious that the Spurs player keeps a higher position.

2

Sterling lobs the Czech keeper and watches as his effort clips the post

England enjoying all the early possession with Maguire playing triangles with his fellow defenders and midfielders.

Off we go in North London. The Czech Republic start the action

Both sides in their home kits tonight... all white for England and red shirts, navy shorts for the Czechs.

...followed by a solid rendition of 'God Save the Queen'

25,000 fans in attendance at the legendary Wembley Stadium tonight. With both sides already guaranteed a place in the Round of 16, will we see a cagey affair or a game where players are anxious to make a names for themselves? Stay with us and all will be revealed as we hear the Czech national anthem.

The sides are in the tunnel and we're just moments away from the final group games in both London and Glasgow. Don't forget a draw would ensure that England avoid the second placed side in Group F (potentially France, Germany or Portugal).

HK

Edging towards kick-off with social media platforms alive with talk of Harry Kane and Grealish. Much being said about Kane looking tired and playing in a deeper role. A goal or two from the Spurs striker is the greatest tonic to silence the haters!

Wembley

Weather at kick-off: It's a fresh June evening in the Borough of Brent and a temperature of 16C / 63F is expected at kick-off. Ideal conditions for the players and a little fresh for the 30% capacity crowd this evening.

Despite the Czech Republic technically being the home team tonight, covid restrictions in the UK will limit away fans with 95% of the supporters tonight set to be cheering for Southgates's side.

Tonight's venue Wembley to hold increased capacities for Euro 2020 semis and final

Wembley has been given the green light to host more than 60,000 spectators for the Euro 2020 semi-finals and final next month.

The showpiece fixtures were initially set to be attended by around 45,000 fans, but approximately 75 per cent of the ground will now be filled.

It will be the largest crowd assembled for a sporting event in the United Kingdom in 15 months.

Aston Villa's Jack Grealish gets the start England fans have been clamoring for and is part of four changes for the 'Three Lions'.

Despite our main focus on the action in North West London, we'll bring you all the goal action from the other Group D game and how the group unfolds during the evening.

At the same time, Croatia and Scotland go head-to-head in Glasgow with the winner guaranteed a place in the next phase. A draw would see sides eliminated from Euro 2020.

Here's how Group D looks tonight ahead of the final match-day. Both the Czechs and English are through to the next phase but the small matter of first and second place are set to be resolved tonight. Finish first and face the second placed team from Group F (Germany, France or Portugal) or finish second and play the second placed team in Group E (Spain, Slovakia, Sweden or Poland). This is the dilemma for both teams tonight ahead of the Wembley clash.

Four changes for Southgate for England tonight:

The Czech Republic team has been confirmed:

Darida

Czech captain Darida pre-game

Patrik Schick has carried the Czechs to the top of Group D with three goals, but going further in the tournament will require others to start finding the back of the net, captain Vladimir Darida said on Monday.

Bayer Leverkusen forward Schick is joint top scorer in the tournament with Cristiano Ronaldo with his three goals, including a stunning strike from just inside the halfway line against Scotland. He is also the only Czech player to score so far in the tournament.

"You can hardly have just one player pull the whole team that far," Darida said. "The rest of us need to shoot more often even from a distance and get to the box more and be productive."

"We are a team who can play at a high pace. We don't want to be passive and don't want to draw back. That could be our weapon."

Once again the dark shadow of the covid-19 pandemic has appeared with both England players Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount having to self-isolate until June 28, ruling them out of the Euro 2020 Group D game with the Czech Republic.

The duo had been self-isolating after coming into contact with Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour, who tested positive on Monday.

Both players are team mates of Gilmour's at Premier League club Chelsea and were pictured embracing him at the end of Friday's 0-0 draw at Wembley.

"Chilwell and Mount will isolate and train individually in private areas at England's training base St. George's Park, with the rest of the squad returning there after tonight's fixture against Czech Republic at Wembley," England said in a statement.

The action gets underway at 21:00 CEST / 15:00 ET and the battle for top spot is on the line this evening with both sides on four points.

Hello, good evening and a very warm welcome ahead of our live Euro 2020 coverage. Tonight's focus is on Group D as Czech Republic face England at the iconic Wembley Stadium in North London.
