Clippers survive elimination game again
The Clippers responded after losing Game 4 at home as they have done all postseason. Facing their third elimination game of the playoffs. Ty Lue’s team showed their survival instinct yet again.
Kawahi Leonard was available for the first two potential knock out games, but this time it was the role players that set the tone in the first half for LA. In the second half Paul George took over and finished off the Suns to force a Game 6 back at the Staples Center.
Morris with a break out postseaon performace
LA hopped out to a 20-5 lead thanks to a zone look put in by coach Lue. The Suns struggled to find their rhythm on the offensive end while Marcus Morris started 6 for 6 from the field to kick start the Clippers in the first quarter.
Ivica Zubac, who was having a fantastic series, sat out Game 5 with a knee injury which allowed Morris more freedom down low. Morris wasted no time, scoring 13 in the first quarter, while Reggie Jackson had 12.
George scores 20 in the 3rd
The Suns trailed the entire first half, and took the lead for just one possession in the third quarter before Paul George went into take over mode. George caught fire out of the halftime break, scoring 20 points in the third.
With no Leonard, and no Zubac George was going to have to be monumental. While posting big numbers through the first four games of the series, his shooting percentage hadn’t been terrific. That changed against the in Game 5. George went 15 for 20 from the field while posting a playoff career high 41 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
Reggie Jackson had an eight point spurt in the fourth quarter to close the game out. He finished with 23 points, while Morris scored 22 points.
Booker's 31 not enough for Suns
Devin Booker had 31 points, but the mask seems as though it could still be bothering his shot. After his 40 point triple-double in Game 1, his field goal percentage has plummeted. Chris Paul scored 22 and dished 8 assists but the Suns fell short in the first of three potential close out games.
The series is headed back west, as the Clippers will look to survive another elimination game at home. Game 6 will tip off on Wednesday at 9 pm ET/ 6 PT.

A spot in the NBA Finals will be on the line Monday night as the Phoenix Suns return home with a chance to close out the series.
The hottest team in the playoffs won their tenth game in their last eleven in Game 4 at the Staples Center. The Suns led from start to finish after jumping out to a 14-2 lead out of the gate. Despite a big third quarter from Reggie Jackson and LA, the Suns were able to hold off the home to put themselves in a commanding lead 3-1 lead.
The Clippers were without Kawhi Leonard for a sixth straight game on Saturday and will be without him for the potential elimination game in Arizona. Leonard has been sidelined since Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals, and LA has not revealed many details about the extent of the former NBA Champion’s injured right knee.
After sweeping the Nuggets in comfortable fashion last round, the Suns have had to battle until the final seconds to secure their triumphs in this series. Phoenix’s three wins this series have been won by a combined total of 11 points.
This isn’t the first time the Clippers have had their backs against the wall this postseason. They have comeback from 0-2 holes twice already, and will have to make it a third time if they want a chance to get to the finals. They find themselves down two games, but at 3-1 they have no room for error.
If the Suns take the game and the series at home on Monday it would be their first time in the NBA Finals since losing to the Bulls in 1993.
