Real Madrid snap up Barcelona youth team star Jaume Jardí
As reported by Sport and confirmed by AS, Real Madrid have signed Barcelona youth team captain Jaume Jardí, who will play for Raúl's Castilla next season.
Real Madrid are continuing with their policy of stacking Raúl's Castilla side with as much talent as possible and have gone to an unusual source to provide the legendary srtriker's reserves with a new goalscorer, bringing in Barcelona youth team captain Jaume Jardí. The 19-year-old forward is one of the stars of Barça's famed La Masia academy who last season captained the under-19s at the Ciutat Esportiva, scoring nine times and providing three assists.
Jardí will be incorporated straight into Raúl's Castilla squad for pre-season after five years at La Masia. AS understands that Jardí was a free agent after his contract expired and talks over a new deal with the Camp Nou hierarchy stalled.
Jardí a free agent after Barcelona contract expired
The 19-year-old was kept in the under-19 side last season instead of being promoted to Barcelona B, but has shown his eye for goal during his career in the Barça youth ranks, ending 2019-20 as the top scorer in the age-group División de Honor in his second season.
Jardí is Raúl´s secnod signing of the summer following the arrival of Rafa Llorente, a winger signed from Las Rozas. There are likely to be more as many of the side that Raúl oversaw last season were often called upon to help out the senior side, something that is likely to continue with Carlo Ancelotti combing the youth ranks for possible promotions with Real Madrid unlikely to be too active in the transfer market.
