The Houston Texans quarterback will be at training camp, but has made it very clear he would like to be traded before the start of the NFL season.

Deshaun Watson is expected to show up to the first day of the Houston Texans training camp on Sunday to avoid a daily $50,000 fine, a source told ESPN’s Ed Werder.

Watson to avoid big fine for absence

Watson has not been quiet about his desires to leave the team in a trade. The former Clemson quarterback has been clear of his intentions since the end of last season. Watson first requested a trade at the beginning of the year when the Texans named Nick Caserio their new general manager.

Since the new collective bargaining agreement was put in place, teams can no longer turn the other cheek to the fines placed upon their players. It is now mandatory to enforce the $50,000 fine for every day a player misses training camp.

Texans QB facing 22 lawsuits

The Texans gunslinger has had his fair share of off the field issues. Two months after requesting the trade reports surfaced of a lawsuit filed against Watson. Since then 22 active lawsuits are have appeared against Watson for alleged sexual assault and inappropriate behavior.

Career year for Watson last season

Watson has been the face of the franchise since 2017. The Houston quarterback had a career season throwing for 33 TDs and nearly 5,000 yards.

Houston have three quarterbacks aside from Watson. Tyrod Taylor would be the assumed started if they Texans don’t trade for another QB, Davis Mills and Jeff Driskel.
