Update:
All the info you need on how and where to watch the Australia v USA Women’s bronze-medal game at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games soccer tournament on Thursday.

Reigning world champions the USA and Australia will go head-to-head on Thursday in the bronze-medal match at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Both teams were defeated in the semi-finals by the same score (1-0) and now they will do their best to go back home with a medal.

If they emerge victorious, it would be Australia's first medal at an Olympics while the USA, who were the favorites to win the tournament, have improved their performance from Rio 2016.

The Aussies recorded an opening 2-1 win over rivals New Zealand, but they could not follow that up with another victory in Group G, advancing to the knockout stages as one of the two best third-placed teams.

USA out to bounce back, Australia looking for Olympic glory

Despite beating Great Britain in the quarter-finals in a dramatic game that finished with a 4-3 victory for Tony Gustavsson’s squad, they fell short against Sweden in the semi-final after Fridolina Rolfo's strike was enough to send Sweden into the final round.

Meanwhile, the USWNT didn't have a good start, as they suffered a comprehensive 3-0 loss to Sweden in their opening match. However, the four-time gold medallists bounced back in their next game with a 6-1 win over New Zealand and recorded a draw against Australia in the final group game.

In the quarter-finals, USA faced the Netherlands in a match that required extra time and penalties, Vlatko Andonovski’s taking the spoils by winning the penalty shootout 4-2. However, USA’s winning flow ended in the semi-finals against Canada, who upset Megan Rapinoe & co. 1-0.

The USA haven’t featured in the last two Olympics finals after three consecutive gold medals between 2004 and 2012.
