Mbappé and Leonardo PSG stand-off continues, Real Madrid circle

The relationship with the sports director has been totally broken for a long time and the player's response continues to be with the idea of leaving in August.

Update:
Mbappé and Leonardo PSG stand-off continues, Real Madrid circle

Kylian Mbappé's goal is still to leave PSG this August. AS has learned that the player's intention is not to renew his contract with the French club. Despite the optimism transmitted by the Parisian club on his extension, Mbappé is not keen to continue no matter what Al Khelaïfi's proposal is.

One of the triggers for Mbappé's decision is Leonardo. The relationship between the sports director and the player has been totally broken for a long time. This is the reason why Al Khelaïfi has emerged as the last hope for PSG, displacing Leonardo in the negotiations for the renewal of the French international and giving it one last attenmpt to convince one of the project's fundamentals. A source close to the club has been able to confirm to AS that a meeting with Mbappé is planned for the upcoming weeks, although the player's response continues to be to leave in August.

The signing of Messi by PSG brings Mbappé closer to the exit ramp. The arrival of the Argentine star in the French capital could be key for the forward to leave the French capital. However, and as AS has been able to confirm, there are no formal offers to sign the player, not even from Real Madrid. PSG remain fully confident of convincing him to stay, but the decision seems to have been firm for months.

French "Fair-Play" will not be a problem

Although in any other circumstances the chance of seeing Ramos, Mbappé, Messi and Neymar in the same team would be simply fantasy football, but in France, PSG are confident of achieving its dream team full of stars. The financial body in charge of the accounts of the French clubs, the DNCG, are always liable to work through the Parisian balance sheet with a fine-tooth comb, especially given recent transactions. Leonardo presented details back in June  of income and expenses that suggested PSG targeted a figure close to the $210 million in player sales to offset losses of $290 million in the current year.

However, PSG are not obliged to sell him for 180 million. The budget presented by Leonardo are simply estimates and not binding in any way. The DNCG does not stop you from having losses, what it prevents you from having is a deficit that suffocates the finances of a team without there being a guarantee of solvency in the short term. In other words, if PSG in its accounts present losses of 200 million, but are guaranteed solvency via their owners, the DNCG would allow the team to keep Mbappé, Messi and Neymar (and the rest) in the squad.

Nevertheless, what is not compatible with the DNCG is that teams each year so as not to balance their accounts. To date, PSG has only offloaded Bakker - for $8.2 million to Bayer Leverkusen - and Leonardo is forced to come close to the approximate figure he previously gave. It must be remembered that, in March, Le Parisien confirmed that Mbappé could leave for 175 million in case PSG could not renew him, stating that the Parisians were beginning to be pessimistic about the situation.
