Patriots vs. Eagles: Live updates
The Patriots dominate game 2 of preseason week against the Eagles
All over at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles had a weak game both in defense and offense. New coach Nick Sirianni has a lot of work to do if he wants his team to be ready for the regular season. DeVonta Smith, on his debut, did the Eagles' best play. But, in the end, New England ran the game from beginning to end.
Jalen Hurts was sub before the game began. The QB had issues warming up and did not feel ready for the game. The expectation for him was big, but the Philly player did not have the best feelings coming out of an ankle injury and shoulder injury that's been affecting him. The team felt his absence and could not recover mentally. As a result, it felt as if the team had lost even before the game began.
For New England, the great news is that it has QBs ready to play from day one. Cam is already a proven talent in the league. And he can deliver if he is inspired. In addition, for the Patriots the positive story is Mac Jones, an incredible game for the rookie that ended the game with 3 TD and 150 yards.
New England also played JJ Taylor to the best of his abilities. His runs were incredible. He can route and has a great talent to avoid the other team's defense. The Pats will be a hard team to beat coming this season.
New England is trying to rebuild after Tom Brady left the team. But, for the moment, the team has the QB positions covered. Mac Jone has been incredible, and being a draft player and so young, can only mean that the team has a great future.

We are about to get our second look at new Patriot Mac Jones, who had a solid debut in over two quarters of action last week. The Young QB went 13/19 for 87 yards.
Lincoln Financial Field is just starting to fill up as the team say some final words together pregame
With the old four game preseason, the penultimate game was usually the biggest gear up for the regular seaosn, with the final game being more of an opportunity for the fringe players to make a name for themselves.
One of the big questions coming in to Week 2 is, how much will coaches use their starters? With the preseason being shortened by a week, what we once though we knew about strategies about snap counts and player preservation has gone out the windown.
Hello everyone and welcome to Philadelphia, where we are just about a half hour away from the start of Week 2 of the NFL preseason. The Eagles will host the Patriots to get the packed weekend full of football started.
Hello everyone and welcome to the City of Brotherly Love, as we get set to kick off week 2 of the NFL preseason. AS English will be providing live coverage, stats, scores and highlights of all the action as the Philadelphia Eagles host the New England Patriots from Lincoln Financial Field at 7:30 p.m. ET
The Eagles and Pats have met twice in the Super Bowl, in XXXIX and in LII. Tonight there won’t be as much at stake but there will still be plenty to watch for. This will be the first match up between the two sides since halfway through the 2019 season.
Both teams began their preseason campaign last Thursday. The Pats started of their new season with a 22-13 win over Washington Football Team. Through the first three quarters it was kicker Quinn Nordin who carried New England by hitting three of three field goals. Cam Newton played a few series, and then it was Mac Jones’ turn to make his debut in front of the Patriots faithful.
Jones played the majority of the first half and went 13/19 and passed for 87 yards.
The game got turned on its side when Joejuan Williams picked off Steven Montez, and brought the Pats inside the redone on the return. Standout rookie running back Rhamondre Stevenson got the next five snaps, and capped off the short drive with a short run for the game’s first touchdown.
After a late Washington touchdown closed the game to a one possession contest, it was Stevenson who closed the game out in the final minutes with a 91 yard touchdown run. The rookie finished the game with 127 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.
The Eagles kicked off their preseason at the same time the Patriots did last week. Second year quarterback Jalen Hurts played just two series, going 3/7 for 54 yards in two series. New offseason acquisition and former Super Bowl winner Joe Flacco took over after Hurts and passed for 178 yards, completing ten of 17 attempts.
All 16 points for the Eagles came in the first half, courtesy of Flacco’s 79 yard TD pass and three field goals, but 17 unanswered Steelers points saw Pittsburgh seal the comeback win.
The win is never as Important as the performances from rookies, second and third string players, and maybe get some snaps for your starters to get them game ready for the first week of the regular season.
We could get better look at Hurts and Newton tonight as the regular season creeps closer. We will also get another look at Mac Jones and Rhamondre Stevenson. Kickoff from Philadelphia is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
